Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage is a refreshing puzzle/physics game that reminds us of the hazards the mighty Viking warriors stood up to during their exploits: ice, freezing winds, evil magic, and troll boogers.

    Same as every dog picks up a case of fleas sometime in its life, those of us that play video games on a regular basis have been burned by licensed games at least once. There are no exceptions. As a result, we immediately assume the worst about licensed fare, sometimes prodding at it with a tissue when interaction is necessary. But one benefit to approaching licensed games on the defensive is that it makes the decent games that much easier to appreciate. Despicable Me: Minion Rush, for example, is an endless running game that's well-polished and surprisingly charming.

    Having your own minion sounds pretty sweet, doesn't it? After all, most of us can barely manage to make coffee within an hour of rolling out of bed, so possessing a thrall who can do it for you without scalding themselves (or you) isn't the worst idea. However, possessing and controlling minions is serious business in Minions & Immortals, an action role-playing/city-building hybrid for iOS. There's treasure to find and glory to reclaim. Coffee will have to wait.

    SpongeBob Moves In is a city-building game that lets you assemble a life for Mr. Squarepants. You know, just in case you weren't totally convinced that he does live in a pineapple under the sea. SpongeBob Moves In lacks polish and is slow and clunky at times, but its biggest sin is its price: the game costs $3.99 USD, but expects you to buy and dish out premium currency at the same pace as its free-to-play brethren. Talk about a monetization scheme that's worthy of Squidward's deepest frown.

    The ladies and gentlemen behind Ouya had a wee brush with the law yesterday near the parking lot of the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Android-based gaming console is being pitched at E3 via a rented outdoor space. Ouya founder Julie Uhrman says that the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is doing what it can to disrupt their showing - including getting the fuzz involved.
