Kickstarter Picks: Shadowrun Returns

One of the coolest things about Kickstarter is that it's granted new life and second chances to game franchises that were seemingly dead in the water. The latest '90s-era video game series to rise up for a gasp of air is Shadowrun. Though Shadowrun is still a popular tabletop RPG campaign, it's been a while since we've seen the series take on a digital form. With any luck, that will change with help of the Shadowrun Returns Kickstarter.

Dojo Danger Preview

Dojos are peaceful, quiet structures wherein anyone from any race or culture can listen to the wisdom of a sensei and reflect on the Old Ways. Unless you're a zombie, of course. All members of the undead are barred from dojos, but once they invade, they're probably not going to leave quietly. In Dojo Danger for iOS, you employ physics and strategy to purge your ninja dojo of those vile, unclean zombies. On the flipside, you can also play as part of a zombie team that has to hustle ninja invaders out the dojo's door. Hey, the living dead needs peace and tranquility, too.

CelebrityMe by Seismic Games is a Facebook game that puts you in the overpriced shoes of a Los Angeles celebrity. Your avatar can live out your new virtual life as an actor, a musician, or a socialite--or you can go for broke and try for all three. Despite some flaws, CelebrityMe is generally a fun game that parodies the LA lifestyle more efficiently than it emulates it, but the game's refusal to take itself seriously is a big part of its draw.

Can cats fly? Think carefully before answering. Cats are fey creatures, and there's no way of knowing what exactly they're up to when our backs are turned. Angry Birds animated series coming Fall 2012

It's nice to know that some things in this fast-paced world of ours will never change. Specifically, wherever there's a hit video game, a cartoon adaptation is never far behind. ("Do the Mario!") Not only will we be seeing a Chop Chop Ninja cartoon before too long, but over the weekend, Rovio announced that an Angry Birds cartoon is in the works.

Chuck's Challenge 3D by Niffler, for instance, is a title that takes you back to the days of raw puzzles and brain-bending challenges. And if the Kickstarter for Chuck's Challenge 3D gets off the ground, you, too, can enjoy level after level of clever object-based puzzle action.
