    There's never been another game quite like The Oil Blue. This strategy sim revolves around the oil industry, primarily pumping, barrelling, and selling crude oil. This probably doesn't sound like your cup of tee; it -in fact- sounds like one of the dullest gameplay experiences ever. But it's not. It's lovely, it's unusual, and it's surprisingly enjoyable.

    I love good tower defense games. Sure, they may be simple, but they're usually a fun way to kill a few minutes between classes or meetings, and they make me think a little about strategy. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm even a little bit biased towards them. I'm telling you this because when I say a tower defense title is bad, that means it's really bad. We're talking irredeemably bad here. Carrot Top bad. Guess what, folks? Milestone Vietnam's new tower defense title, The Battle of Shogun? It's that bad.

    Gather round, children, and hear my tale. The tale of a young warrior, his quest to save the world from some very bad people, and how he learned a great deal about himself along the way. What's that? You say you've heard this before? No, it's not Final Fantasy. No, not Earthdawn either. No, it's in a new iPhone game called Chronicle of ZIC, an RPG that seems to be hell-bent on imitating every classic RPG out there, but not doing enough to be truly memorable on its own.

    A lot of iPhone games that come out these days try to rely on superior production values to fool players into overlooking lacklustre game design. As a result, it's rather refreshing to see an App like Round Traveler, an "action puzzle" game that takes the opposite approach by focusing more on creative design and game mechanics. By and large, the game succeeds where so many other physics-based titles have floundered.

    Realistic physics are a big selling point in games, especially with iPhone titles these days. We're starting to see this feature touted as a selling point with more and more games, including genres where we might not have expected to. iFlexis is a perfect example: a match-three title that utilizes "wacky physics" to make things fun, this is a game that seems like it should be a complete hit… unfortunately, it's never quite as enjoyable as it tries to be.

    The only way that a match-3 game can stand out from the pack these days is to not only be well-made, but to be a little different as well. Thumbstar Games seems to be aware of this challenge, so the developer has created a new entry for this genre, Shifters, that has a little bit of a twist when it comes to play mechanics. The end result is a game that is simultaneously cute and challenging, if only a little flawed.

    Anyone who grew up reading Highlights! as a kid played has "Spot The Difference" games at some point (albeit of the non-digital variety). The idea is pretty self-explanatory: you take two images of the same scene, put them side-by-side, and spot the minute changes that have been made between them. While they may not sound exciting, such games can work well on the iPhone, provided they're done right. FindIT 2, the sequel to FindIT, is about as exciting a time as you can expect to have with such a game thanks to the high-quality imagery and the ability for users to create new content.

THINK, a new brainteaser based on the popular series of PC games from Ravensburger, has made its way onto the iPhone - but it doesn't exactly measure up to the better entries in the genre.
