    So let's say you're a blowfish hanging out in Lake Fuji with all your blowfish friends. One day, King Hikari's son goes on a fishing bender and decides to kidnap all your friends. The proper response to this, it turns out, is to strike out on a quest to rescue all your captured companions. However, since you're (literally) a fish out of water, this is easier said than done.

    So there I was. The thin red line that was the only thing holding back an enemy country from invading my homeland. I shot down planes, destroyed tanks, and ended mens' lives as I sat in my tower with my guns and my missiles. And then, in the midst of a particularly hectic battle -one in what seemed like a never-ending series- I got bored, turned off iCannon: Hellfire on my iPhone, poured myself a bowl of Lucky Charms, and realized I had no real desire to return to that world.

    When you're a crazy inventor who's reached his twilight years, what do you do with all your free time? The answer, apparently, is to take a note from Clint Eastwood: hole up in a lighthouse-like tower, mount a giant crossbow on the top, and shoot anyone who comes near your front door. Nothing says "Get Off My Lawn!" like a giant flaming arrow aimed at somebody's head.

    having spent a few days with the game, it seems safe to say that developer Lakoo might have wanted to take another month or two to work on this English port. It's certainly a decent game, but the various limitations that consistently crop up prevent it from having much real appeal.

    If the movie Waterworld ever had a decent message to impart on the masses, it wasn't about the dangers of global warming. Instead, it was about how cool jet skis could be if someone decided to mount weaponry on them. Hydro Storm definitely believes in this message, though it's more than a little garbled in its delivery.

    A moment of silence for the Volterites. They never had a chance, you see. Well, they did, for a little while, when they were busy stomping all humanity into the ground as the two groups warred across the stars. But then a distress call went out and Kal Wardin, mankind's one-person army, decided to answer it. The resulting one-man war was frantic, bloody, and a pretty ugly series of defeats for the aliens. Oh, and it also served as the story for N.O.V.A. 2, a delightful new FPS from Gameloft.

Square-Enix has released Secret of Mana for the iPhone, and the port shows that classic games can still be just as great as they were when they first came out.
