    Has it really been 16 years since Jerry Maguire? Apparently it doesn't matter. Cuba Gooding, Jr. is more likely to star in direct-to-DVD flops than Academy Award fodder and Tom Cruise may content himself with a movie a year, but apparently we're still as fascinated with sports agents as ever. OJO Agent hopes to cash in on this fascination by allowing players to sample almost every aspect of a sports agent's life--aside from, you know, having a change of heart and making up with Renée Zellweger. And for the most part, it does its job well.

    Up until now, playing a social fighting game usually meant plugging in some stats, pressing a button, and hoping that your character does more damage than the other guy, and most don't even let you see the combat aside from swooshes or a stock audio file of swords clashing. It's a genre that has always demanded more from your imagination than your skills, in other words, and even the best titles offer a few weeks' worth of enjoyment at best. Not so with Soul Crash. Here is a game that actually feels like a fighting game, and its features point to a day when playing a version of Street Fighter may be feasible for Facebook.

    Ain't the Internet great? Here I am sitting in a chilly Chicago apartment during the last days of March, and I can now say I spent Spring Break running a trendy beach resort thanks to iZ's Paradise Club. Sure, my buddies in Florida may come back with genuine tans, but I significantly increased the club's income and helped save a newlywed couple's honeymoon. Alas, I just couldn't stand the working conditions. Not only was news of almost major action working its way onto my Facebook wall, but I also found myself being charge when I couldn't find a helping hand.

    You know you're getting old when a decade you lived through gets labeled as retro. For me, it was the 1980s, placed at the end of a list of decades stretching back to 1950s in Entertainment Games' Retro World, and I found myself in oddly pleasant company as I glanced over the game's references to the rerun favorites of my youth. I suppose that places me at the tail end of the studio's target audience, but with such a wealth of entertainment and variety waiting beyond every click, I can't help but think that younger audiences may find much to love amid the relentless nostalgia as well.

    Chester, the mad showman whose loopy eyes hint that Rollercoaster Mania involves a little more than deep enthusiasm, only wants people like me to remember good things about Noisy Duck's new social game. He even says so. Barely 15 minutes into my first gameplay session, Chester has me hunt down the reviewers busily jotting down notes so I can distract them from the less savory aspects of the amusement parks going up around them. It's an understandable and funny task, but I can't help but feel that I shouldn't have to divert the attention of my journalistic brethren.

    What should we make of PopCap's Lucky Gem Casino? On the one hand, it delivers the joy of playing slots based on some of the developer's most popular franchises. On the other, it's hard to shake the feeling that it represents a forced attempt to cash in on growing casino craze on Facebook. That's not to say that there's anything wrong with this outing, but the only things that really set it apart from its competitors are welcome cameos from PopCap games and some minor social fluff. The playful creativity that we've come to expect from the casual juggernaut is on vacation here, and the whole project sags with the weight of timely obligation.
