    GAMEVIL has announced today their acquisition of esteemed and successful global developer and publisher of mobile games, Com2uS. The recent deal, which reportedly cost GAMEVIL a cool $65 million, puts the Korea-based company in control of the majority of Com2uS shares. So what does this deal mean for us gamers? It means lots of great new mobile experiences are surely on the way as GAMEVIL strives to become the top gaming company on a global scale today!This is certainly one of the most substantial acquisitions in the mobile F2P market that we've ever seen, and going forward, both GAMEVIL and Com2uS plan to leverage off of one another's successful user bases, GAMEVIL Circle and Com2uS Hub, respectively. Halloween has come early to Springfield this year, as the latest "Treehouse of Horror" update to EA's popular The Simpsons: Tapped Out game is dishing out the scares today on your mobile devices. The storyline of the latest update was penned by the same writer behind The Simpsons' upcoming "Treehouse of Horror XXIV" episode, and players who tune in to the episode when it airs on TV this Sunday, October 6th will also have a unique chance to unlock a special tie-in item after correctly answering a trivia question.All in all, the new "Treehouse of Horror" update is said to include all new characters, like Count Burns and the deceased Maude Flanders; new buildings and rides, like the Gypsy Fortune Teller Shop and the thrilling Twirl 'n' Hurl at Krustyland; tons of new decorations that will really put Springfield in the Halloween spirit; and of course, a healthy dosage of fun new quests, that involve everything from helping ghosts find their eternal rest, to standing strong against a town invasion of Gremlins."EA tells us that nearly seven million Simpsons fans downloaded and played last year's "Treehouse of Horror" annual update, making it one of the company's most successful mobile updates of all time: and this latest spook-ified installment certainly looks to be no different!     Hot on the heels of last month's iOS release of cult favorite sandbox crafting game Terraria, creator Andrew "Redigit" Spinks of Re-Logic has confirmed that a Terraria 2 is eventually on the way. However, we shouldn't expect the full-fledged sequel for quite some time, as Spinks and team have plenty more content updates in store for the original crafting adventure to take us through the rest of 2013 and beyond.In talking with Rock Paper Shotgun about the prospects of a Terraria 2, Spinks has revealed that the game has already been in the planning stages for quite some time. While the sequel will still bear quite a lot of similarities to the original Terraria game, fans can still expect to find a lot that's also completely new: specifically the mention of "infinite worlds" that won't restrict Terraria players to one confined location, and provide an unlimited sense of exploration."But in the meantime, we certainly haven't seen the last of the first Terraria, as Spinks is determined to finish some much-anticipated endgame content within the next month or two (which will add a final boss into the adventure), in addition to a possible Halloween-themed update, before fully focusing his efforts on developing Terraria 2. He is also considering opening a smaller, second team at Re-Logic to keep up with furthering the original Terraria content well after he has moved onto Terraria 2.Any Terraria fans out there?     New World of Tanks update adds competitive Team Battle mode

    Ready your war machines, Private, because Wargaming's World of Tanks is getting a new content update in the near future: and this one's gonna be a doozy. The highly anticipated Update 8.9 will be introducing a brand new game mode into World of Tanks called Team Battle, which is gearing up to bring a whole new competitive side to the popular tank MMO. Much like the game's beloved Tank Companies scenario, the new Team Battle mode will let players choose between joining a pre-existing team and creating their own before heading off into the thick of the battle.Each of the standard PvP battles will last up to 10 minutes' time, as each 7-player team faces off against their opponents in a battle of wits and artillery (teams of 5 to 6 players will also be allowed to participate, although short-ended teams will be deducted 1 point for each absent member below the maximum of 7). The use of smaller teams in the Team Battle mode are said to bring a whole new dynamic for strategic maneuvers, and Wargaming says the key feature about the upcoming game mode is that all battle matchups will be made entirely dependent on a team's own level of skill. This allows Team Battle to be easily accessible to both beginner and veteran World of Tanks players around the world."In addition to the exciting new Team Battle game mode, the 8.9 update to World of Tanks will also introduce a brand new line of German Tank Destroyers into the fold, not to mention a new North American battle arena and Encounter battle mode for the Erlenberg. Ranging from Tier 4 to Tier 10 vehicles, the additional line of tanks will encompass everything from the Marder III and the Soviet Y-34, to the Nashorn and Waffentrager auf Pz.IV. So in other words, there's going to be a lot of explosive new ways for you to blow those opposing teams straight off of the battlefield!The free 8.9 update to World of Tanks that will usher in these new additions to the game is said to be arriving sometime soon.

    I would like to ask everyone who may be reading these brief introductory paragraphs right now to kindly disregard the frantic pace with which I am typing these words. For you see, the faster I get this intro typed and formatted into my computer, then the faster I can return to my usual Wednesday night activity: staring at the wall and twiddling my thumbs until the clock strikes midnight, when I can finally indulge myself in some great new mobile games!So I hope you won't mind if these opening paragraphs feel rushed in any way, because the more I think about playing a platform game that has you running and jumping along dazzling rings in a bright and vibrant circus tent, or hacking and slashing my way through a pixelated ninja universe, or even hoping my slot machine luck will get me to the end of an epic RPG adventure, then the more anxious I get about finishing this article and moving on to actually playing the games!

    A direct sequel to Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek, Enigmatis: The Mists of Ravenwood lets us put on the detective badge once again in a wonderful tale of intrigue and hidden object adventuring. On her continued search for the demonic preacher who eluded her at the end of the last game, our fearless detective comes across a frightened young girl named Becky at the edge of a campground. The detective's search for the little girl's parents ultimately leads her into the happy and idyllic campgrounds of Ravenwood, although everything is certainly not as it seems before long: from the oh-so-cheery camp workers, to the way the world seems to shift into darkness at regular turns, and of course, let's not forget the barrels of dead bodies and giant shadowy raven that tends to stop by from time to time.The game's presentation is particularly top-notch, with wonderfully painted visuals and smooth animations, not to mention impressive 3D character models that work like magic in the many engrossing cutscenes. What's great about this game is that The Mists of Ravenwood completely owns up to its rustic campground setting, and everything beyond it makes logical sense within the overall constraints of its own uniquely crafted world. Areas like the logging cabins, a giant tree that you can walk inside of, and even a short detour to the rocky beach below all feel realistic and connected, and you'll never veer off into that oversaturated futuristic temple that seems to make an appearance at the end of almost every hidden object adventure game these days."The Mists of Ravenwood does a lot of things that go the extra mile towards making the overall experience feel like so much more than your typical hidden object adventure. The most welcome of these features are in the deductions that your character can make by strategically placing found pieces of evidence on an investigative bulletin board of sorts (you are a detective after all!). While it's really just a matter of dragging the different evidence items over one of the various plot point circles until you find a match, it's still an extremely nice way of advancing the plot and giving players a nice refresher course at regular intervals as to what the underlying mysteries are.

    Now that September has finally reached its timely close, we're really getting into the heart of fall right now, and changing leaves and pumpkin carving are only a few short weeks away! Some of my fondest video game memories took place during the fall, like coming home directly from school to sit in front of my TV and play video games, or just staying home from school altogether to sit in front of my TV and play video games.There were a lot of amazing new releases this month that truly worked wonders towards making it a September to remember in the video game world: from whimsical point-and-click adventures that took players to all ends of fantastical new worlds; to exhilarating action games that pushed the limits of what mobile games could really be capable of; and to just all-around good browser-based fun that had us battling cards with our older brother Gary and dropping a few pretend coins on our favorite virtual slot machines.
