    Good news for Hero Academy fans today! As of only an hour or so ago, the popular strategy game of heroes and warriors from Robot Entertainment has quietly snuck its way onto the Google Play Marketplace for Android devices. This is certainly a heroic achievement for the bite-sized turn-based game that's been dominating the iOS charts for longer than any of us can remember, and so I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the Android charts soon fall victim to the game's swords and sorcery as well.Now it should also be noted that this Android release of Hero Academy is still being considered as a "soft-launch" of sorts, and so it may take a few hours for some to see the game properly show up in the Google Play Marketplace. Robot Entertainment has also released a list of all the current Android devices that will be compatible with the game, which they have posted for your convenience right over here."You can check out Hero Academy right now on your Android device by clicking this Google Play Marketplace link, or by using the "Play Now" option at the top of this page.     Don't shoot yourself. You would think that such a simple piece of advice like that would more or less already be ingrained in the brains of everyone capable of even reading it, but when it comes to the latest puzzle arcade shooter from Ayopa Games and developer Silverware Games, those three simple words are the means by which you'll succeed or fail in a flurry of gunfire.Because the primary enemies in Don't Shoot Yourself! are actually your ship's own bullets. There are 100 of them, in fact, in each level, and you'll need to constantly avoid the continuous barrage of bullets until all 100 have been fired, and then a final magic blue bullet is released which blows open the physical constraints of the current stage and allows you to fly merrily on your way, your ship hull intact.The biggest part of the gameplay in Don't Shoot Yourself! revolves around the walls themselves in each of the game's 50 themed levels, as different wall types and surfaces will cause your bullets to ricochet back at you using different kinds of physics. A sleek minimalist design permeates the entire adventure, and quick thinking is a must if you want to make it to see the challenging boss levels, or stake your claim in the infinite survival mode.But above all else, the game is just really going to teach everyone a simple life lesson: don't shoot yourself. Seriously, just don't do it. There are too many video game enemies out there in the world for you to just be taken out by a little self-friendly fire. Don't Shoot Yourself! is currently slated for an iOS release on November 13, 2013.

The game's little green alien character Osiris will use his supernatural abilities to morph your preteen characters into full-fledged teenagers, which is exactly how I entered my own teen years in real life as well."From going on a date in the park and sharing their first kiss, to attending Sim Town High and getting straight A's, to starting their own band and becoming a famous Teen Idol, you'll be able to teach your teenage Sims and help them grow into unique and aspiring individuals that you can surely be proud of in your golden Sim grandparent days.

    It's hard to get into a conversation about mobile racing games in 2013 without someone mentioning Creative Mobile's Drag Racing, the quintessential racing experience on a touchscreen device over the last several years. But as mobile game developers continue to up the ante with their games by using more realistic looking graphics and higher-powered gameplay, many fans are interested to see where Creative Mobile will go next with their inevitable follow-up game.Well today we're bringing you the answer in Nitro Nation Online, a game that takes everything you know and love about Drag Racing and really pushes down that gas pedal to deliver on the graphics and the gameplay. I recently had a chance to chat with Creative Mobile CEO Vladimir Funtikov, and talk about what kinds of things Drag Racing fans can expect to find in Nitro Nation Online, as well as how the development team used everything they've learned to create what Funtikov calls an "ultimate version of Drag Racing," and what it all means for like-minded racing games in the future."After speaking one-on-one with Funtikov, essentially what it all boiled down to was three main components built into the core of the new game that are aimed to set the experience far and above what was initially possible in the original Drag Racing. The first new component to be introduced in Nitro Nation Online is a completely reworked and revamped physics engine, which is both adapted to the mobile platform and used to exude an incredibly realistic feeling with regards to how the cars are expected to handle and control in the game.

    Nothing like a fine piece of classic RPG-related news to start off your Thursday morning, right? Well hold on to your chairs and your HP meters for this one: Final Fantasy VI will be heading to iOS and Android smartphone devices at some point this winter!Square Enix director and producer Takashi Tokita revealed the exciting news to Kotaku this morning, along with an assurance that the game will also receive a few enhancements along the way to your mobile device, similar to the approach that was taken with the well-received Final Fantasy V. More than just a mere port with touchscreen controls, the upcoming Final Fantasy VI on mobile is expected to come with sharper visuals, and a slight tweaking to the overall battle system in an effort to eliminate some of the past required grinding."And as if already reading everyone's minds who would be reading this news, Tokita was also forthcoming to share his thoughts about the potential mobile release of the colossal fan-favorite Final Fantasy VII: "If this Legacy project works out well, we would like to one day be able to work with VII." Let me hear a resounding, yes please!

    I'm sure at one point or another in your mobile gaming career you've undoubtedly heard the many tales of caution that proclaim how important it is for developers to localize their mobile apps for sale in other markets and expand on their success. But of course, even if developers do take those initial steps towards bringing their games to other countries and mobile markets, there's always been that one glaring hurdle that's managed to keep so many games landlocked in their own native grounds: the elusive language barrier. Luckily, a new translation service called Ackuna is looking to make the prospects of localization a whole lot easier for small-studio game developers going forward.I recently had a chance to speak with Michael Duke of the marketing department at Ackuna, and learn some more about the company's take on localization and how their own translation services are crafted to help you achieve your own mobile development goals. According to Duke, what sets Ackuna apart from other more machine-based translation options out there today is the unique sense of community that the service provides. Users will be able to monitor the quality of work throughout the entire translation process, and fine-tune their own localization efforts through community feedback, advertising, and networking. The groundwork for Ackuna was actually put it place about two years ago, when it first began as a mere side project of the company's prime translation agency, Translation Cloud. In these humble beginnings, Ackuna functioned as a simple means of proofreading a machine-translated text for its interested users."But as the popularity of the project grew, Ackuna soon adapted in order to directly connect its users with the freelance translators themselves at Translation Cloud, before setting its sights on assisting the localization efforts of mobile app developers. Having just come out of its beta period this past September, Ackuna currently supports 22 different languages, with some of the most popular translations being English to Spanish, English to Chinese, and a number of other European languages, such as French and Italian. To help ensure that most mobile app developers are covered no matter their platform, Ackuna also supports a range of 10 different file formats, including the popular Apple iOS strings, Android XML, Blackberry resource file, and Java configuration file, as well as more uncommon ones, like YAML (Ruby), Microsoft Office spreadsheet, and Open Office spreadsheet.
