Big Fish Games changes its prices: Our Interview with Paul Thelen

      By Joel Brodie

It's a big day when Big Fish Games, a leading distributor of download games, announces changes to their pricing. In a nutshell, the price for Collector's Editions is going down for Club Members and the price of Standard Games is going up for Non-Club Members (the details as reported in our news article from last night). We had the opportunity to interview Paul Thelen, Founder, Chairman, and Chief Strategy Officer of Big Fish Games to get the full scoop on the changes in pricing, to discuss the logic behind such changes, and to even get a bit philosophical about game pricing.

Google’s gaming advocate leaves a week after announcing 5% cut for Chrome Web Store sales. Coincidence? Not!

      By Joel Brodie

Google's "game developer advocate" Mark Deloura has announced on his web blog that he has officially left Google this past Monday, August 23. He announces this less than a week after he announced the details surrounding Google Web Chrome Store, just a week before at GDC-Europe. Coincidence? I think not.

Social Gamers are Casual Gamers (and other less obvious observations)

      By Joel Brodie

According to a new report by the NPD Group, the majority of social gamers in the US are females over the age of 40. Apparently, this is shocking news on other web sites but it is old hat here at Gamezebo. More interesting findings are that 56 million Americans admit to playing a social game (that's 1 out of 5!), 10% have purchased an item, 35% of social gamers have never played a game before, and 84% have played a social game on Facebook.

Google Chrome Web Store: The 5 Percent Heard around the Casual Games World

      By Joel Brodie

Google released details for its upcoming Google Chrome Web Store at GDC Europe in Germany. There are few surprises in what was quietly announced except for one: Google will only take a 5% revenue share from the sales on any games through its store. This bold decision may finally make Google a big player in casual games and could perhaps change the world of casual games, including downloads, forever.
