    Call this prediction, that everyone would want to create a "Groupon" for games, the one I meant to but was to busy to post last week. Silly me, I would have already been proven correct. Just 11 days into the New Year, Inhale Digitalhas announced that it has raised $1.1 million in funding and launched a Groupon for Games. Here's how it works: People sign up with their Facebook Connect account to receive daily game deals everyday up to 50 - 90% of the original price.

    Groupon buys a Super Bowl Ad, but where’s Zynga?

    This could have been you, Zynga. Groupon is buying a Super Bowl pre-game TV ad and now the free publicity and buzz is rising from all the media hounds like myself who have nothing else better to write about. As you may recall, my first prediction ever (before I was a week-long would-be Nostradamus last week) was that Zynga would launch Zynga Live at the end of January of this year and launch it with a Super Bowl ad. Though I think this would have been a smart move, I am probably going to be wrong about this prediction.

    Oh glory day! While checking the Pulse app this weekend, I noticed a new games category with Gamezebo included as a featured partner. Pulse is one of my favorite news reading applications for the iPad, iPhone, and Android that lets you view all your favorite online content sites, tweets, and Facebook activities in what can best be described as a magazine like format. Now that Gamezebo is being featured as a part of it's Gaming category, I like it even more. If you have an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, you should check out Pulse and use the app to follow Gamezebo and other gaming news.     Last year was a good year for Google and games. By November, more Android devices may have been sold sold than iPhone and Google released the Chrome Web Store, making it possible to buy a game app and be played on any device through the browser (which essentially, is just like an operating system). The problem was, no one can make any money on any of Google's products for some reasons (more on that later). In 2011, I predict Google and Android will become an even bigger games player. Dare I say, the largest games channel in the world? But, game companies will still not be able to make any money.

    For Facebook and social games, 2010 was a good, not a great, year. Facebook became the pre-dominant distribution channel for games worldwide with 40%+ of its 500 million usersplaying games and social game companies such as Playdom selling to Disney for $700 million and Zynga on the path to generate $1 billion on revenues based mostly on Facebook distribution. Yet, Facebook arbitrarily changed its notification rules many times over the year bringing uncertainty to the market and drove many social game companies to the brink of bankruptcy (note: if Zynga or Playdom buys you for next to nothing because you were about to go out of business, you are lucky, not a genius). In 2011, I predict that Facebook will get its groove back and become a dominant place to play and make money on games worldwide. However, it will not be the number one games distribution channel in the world.

    If there is one truth in casual games, it is that casual gamers love hidden object games. In 2010, we continued to view and review at least 3 new hidden object games released per week and I predict this trend will continue even more so in 2011. But I also predict you'll buy and play hidden object games in different ways in 2011.
