    Earlier this year, Rovio announced they raised $42 million from the venture capitalists. Today, Rovio has revealed it's plans to spend that money: to launch a different version of Angry Birds for every single animal species in the world."Angry Birds is the most successful mass-market brand since ever," the Mighty Eagle of Rovio proclaimed, "why mess with success when you can build the same game again and again and again?" The next games Rovio plans to release are Angry Monkeys, Angry Anteaters, Angry Bats, and Angry Platypuses, and Angry Salmon (the farm-raised kind).

    Citing complaints by a vocal minority in its forums that there are "too darn many hidden object and not enough time management games" released on its web site, Big Fish Games has announced that for the entire month of April, not one hidden object game will be offered. If a hidden object game is released anytime during the month of April, Club members will be awarded the hidden object game for free.There is a loophole.

    Citing the desire to make life easier for game developers and game players, Apple and Google have announced a landmark agreement to create a single open standard between iOS and Android devices so that it's "write once, play everywhere." Every game designed to run on an iPhone will perfectly run on an Android device."We don't want walled gardens," an Apple spokesperson said.

    Amazon.com, the leading e-retailer on the Web, has officially launched it's Appstore for Android. Amazon's previous foray into casual games, buying Reflexive Entertainment for its studio and distribution technology, didn't pan out so well. Amazon.com is not exactly on the same level of Big Fish Games or Valve's Steam when it comes to digital distribution. But, the Android Marketplace could be a lot more successful.
