In the Downloads space, because a lot of hidden object games are spooky in theme, a lot of HOGs are on sale.There is a 50% HOGs Halloween Sale at Wild Tangent; a Halloween Spook-tacular $4.99 sale at GameHouse; iPlay has a new play section where you can play a variety of older games for free; OnLive (cloud gaming) has a free Halloween Weekend Special going; and GamersGate has over 20 scary games on sale as well.     Two weeks ago, Zynga invited the press to check out its new office and get a sneak peak on its upcoming games and projects.Lost amidst the announcements around Project Z (a Facebook-based social games network that I am not even sure Zynga fully gets what its all about) to upcoming game launches of CastleVille (CityVille meets a RPG with a touch of Shrek, very cool) and a slew of casino style and mobile games, was the announcement around Hidden Chronicles, Zynga's first foray into the hidden object genre.Hidden Chronicles may do for hidden object games what FarmVille did for strategy and simulation games, making the hidden object genre the most popular casual game genre of them all.

    I will write about your campaign though. Over the past day, Gamezebo has been inundated by requests to purchase SuperPoke Pets from Google to keep the game running. Based on conversations with other companies, I am not the only one getting these requests.The answer is, no, we can't buy the game from Google and keep it running. I know, I have the reputation of being a high roller, but if Google can't afford to keep it running, Gamezebo can't as well. Having said that, I have to give the players behind this campaign credit for their enthusiasm. Truth is, some company they spam may be enticed to purchase the game from Google. They should be able to acquire the game and all of Slides assets for a penny -- literally.

    There is no question that the phenomenon that is Angry Birds is backed by impressive numbers. The game has been downloaded over 350 million times and Rovio sells an average of 1 million t-shirts and plush toys, respectively (Techcrunch). An amusement park in China has created a real-life Angry Birds game.And in an entertaining piece in The Atlantic, senior editor Alexis Madrigal proved he does not have an economic bone in his body by estimating that Angry Birds costs the US economy $1.5 billion a year based on what may possibly be the worse analysis I have ever read in my life. One would think PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies should have Angry Birds-envy, if not for the fact that Plants vs. Zombies now has its very own hip hop video.
