    Dean Takahashi of Venturebeat has written what amounts to a book about the growth story that is Zynga. Seriously, it's 12 web pages long and my guess is that they'll turn it into a for-pay e-book once Zynga goes public this week. In the meantime, read it for free here. In other Zynga news, the company is planning to go public in what could be the biggest game company IPO ever. As luck would have it, or as game launch strategy and a huge marketing campaign would happen, the top 5 games on Facebook are Zynga games this week, driven by the new release of CastleVille and renewed popularity of Word with Friends. And someone at Zynga needs to send a gift to Alec Baldwin for giving them and Word with Friends the greatest public relations gift alive on the week of going public.     Microsoft finally announced they are launching their own iTunes-competitor for PC apps within its upcoming Windows 8 operating system (see related article: Gamasutra). The Windows App Store is slated to be released in beta in February 2012, and will allow users to buy games, apps, ebooks, digital magazines, within app, subscriptions, and in app purchases. But is it a case of too little, too late? In the past, Microsoft was successful using its monopoly in the Windows OS to buy, copy, and cheat it's way to win in new markets.

Kotaku reports that Teija Vesterbacka wore this Angry Birds-inspired dress at a Finnish royal function. I know, slow news day, but it's not everyday we see a picture of someone wearing an Angry Birds dress at a Finnish State Gala (click read more to see actual dress)

    Well, this is an exciting Thanksgiving Treat the day before Black Friday. Big Fish Games has released the latest Mystery Case Files today, Mystery Case Files: Escape from Ravenhearst. I got a personal sneak peak of the game from studio lead Pat Wylie a few weeks ago in a hotel room in San Francisco (that sounded better when not written online) and I have to say, it's pretty creepy. If you like Mystery Case File games and a little fear factor, it's Christmas early for you.
