    Despite a few stumbles here and there, I'm still convinced that Atari is one of those companies that's destined for mobile gaming greatness. The quick play nature of their classic catalogue make them a perfect fit, and their few unique modern titles, like I Love Strawberries and Faeries vs Darklings, were a blast to play. Now Atari is gearing up to release what appears to be a winning combination of old and new, with the upcoming iOS release of Asteroids Gunner.

Rovio reminded us this morning, when CEO Peter Vesterbacka announced at a conference in Helisinki that their little birdy game has now surpassed 500 million downloads. 500. MILLION.

Or to put it another way, one of Japan's largest mobile social gaming companies acquired one of America's largest mobile social gaming companies for $104 million. Well surprise surprise - this newly formed international superteam have just announced the creation of a new worldwide mobile social gaming platform for 2012.
