How bad was Battlefield 3: Aftershock? Bad enough for EA to pull it from the App Store

Battlefield 3: Aftershock was one of the most anticipated iOS games of the year, and once it was released, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing. Terrible is really the only word that begins to describe it. Our own reviewer even went so far as to say that EA has "irrevocably damaged the Battlefield brand for a lot of fans." As it turns out, EA was listening, and they've now pulled the game from the App Store based on customer complaints.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance Preview

Superheroes and video games seem like they should be a sure fire combination, but over the years the pairing has resulted in a spotty track record at best. That's why, when Disney announced that Playdom was working on a new Facebook game based on the Marvel Universe, we approached the idea with idea with reserved skepticism. The action-packed superhero genre? On Facebook? How on earth could they make a game like that? As it turns out, the answer is "incredibly well."

When it comes to things like slots, lotteries, and race tracks, clichéd expressions like "you've got to be in it to win it!" and "everybody's getting in on the action!" are about as old as gambling itself. But like it or not, they're also true. With slots quickly becoming the next big thing on Facebook thanks to games like 3D Slots, Lucky Cruise, and Slotomania, it was only a matter of time until one of the big players decided to get in on the gambling scene, and PopCap have done just that with today's release of Lucky Gem Casino.

Blackwood & Bell Mysteries Preview

Can lightning strike twice? Playdom is sure hoping so. The Disney-owned studio single-handedly popularized the hidden object genre on Facebook with Gardens of Time last year, and while we've seen a few other games follow in its footsteps since (Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Haunts), we haven't seen another HOG from Playdom directly - at least not until now.

Kickstarter Picks: Saturday Morning RPG

As a child of the 80's, there are few upcoming games as high on my radar as Saturday Morning RPG. When we first previewed the game back in November, I was all but wiping the drool from my keyboard as I typed. But like many great Saturday morning cartoons, it looks like this one might be cut short before it's time. At least, it might unless Mighty Rabbit Studios gets some help!
