Jillian will play any game with cute characters or an isometric perspective, but her favorites are Fallout 3, Secret of Mana, and Harvest Moon. Her PC suffers from permanent cat-on-keyboard syndrome, which she blames for most deaths in Don’t Starve. She occasionally stops gaming long enough to eat waffles and rewatch Battlestar Galactica.

    Incredipede begins with a tragic tale: Little Quozzle's village is ransacked by invaders, burned to the ground, and all of her family and friends kidnapped.  She alone escapes into the hills and becomes our unexpected hero, on a tireless journey to find the hidden village across the island and rescue her tribe.  In pursuit of this noble goal, we take control of Little Quozzle and her amazing ability to generate limbs on command.

    When we last left our hero, Rufus, he was attempting to flee the trash-ridden planet in pursuit of his newly met dream girl, Goal.  Without spoiling Deponia, things were moderately wrapped up, and Rufus seemed to be leaving the conclusion in the hands of fate.  Seemed to be.  When Chaos on Deponia, begins, Rufus is back in action and rocketing himself toward the upper land, and Goal's home, Elysium, but things take an unsurprising turn for the worse.

    Any game with strong similarities to Star Fox deserves a playthrough, in my mind.  The ahead-of-its-time polygonal space shooter set precedence for smooth flying controls and engaging action upon its arrival in 1993.  Although Psyonix's recent Arc Squadron is obviously inspired by the SNES shooter, it is also its own game, perfectly crafted for the iPhone and the challenge of battling through space with only your fingertip.

    Think back, vault hunters.  Think of all the good times you've had with Borderlands and Borderlands 2: fending off bandits with your friends; splitting up loot and painstakingly preparing your loadouts; turning in missions for quirky Pandora residents like Zed and Scooter; exploring a vast and unfriendly, yet beautiful wasteland with nothing but equipment you've scavenged…oh, and some turreted Outrunners.  Remember it well, because Borderlands Legends has no interest in reminiscing with you.

    2012: the predicted year the world will end…for point-and-click adventure games.  The genre has been around for decades, and coming up with new ideas is getting tougher.  Developers have begun looking to the past for inspiration, and more recently, direct relief.  G5 is trying their luck with 1997's Pilot Brothers, Zojoi is completely revamping 1987's Shadowgate, and DotEmu has traveled to 2002 and returned with Tony Tough and the Night of Roasted Moths.

    There's no question G5 is aware of what makes a compelling game.  With engaging titles like Special Enquiry Detail: Engaged to Kill, Supermarket Mania 2, and Virtual City 2 under their belt, I generally put faith in their ideas—including their recent decision to bring 1997's Pilot Brothers: After the Striped Elephant to iOS, as just Pilot Brothers.  Unfortunately, this is one game they should have left in the past.

    There seems to be a focus on kidnapping in games this month: bunnies kidnapped for science, spiders nabbing women, and even squares making off with circles.  Claybox is diving into this thematic pool with Fin Friends, an endless swimmer that sends our finned hero, Ruby, on a rescue mission that has all the right hooks.

    Gamers who haven't summered in Vladivostok may not recognize the comical pair in G5 Entertainment's upcoming iOS adventure, Pilot Brothers.  Despite enjoying reasonable fame in Russia as a Sherlock-and-Watson-inspired comic duo, our heroes—Chief and Colleague—are fairly unknown in the western hemisphere.  That may quickly change with their upcoming point-and-tap iOS excursion.
