Jillian will play any game with cute characters or an isometric perspective, but her favorites are Fallout 3, Secret of Mana, and Harvest Moon. Her PC suffers from permanent cat-on-keyboard syndrome, which she blames for most deaths in Don’t Starve. She occasionally stops gaming long enough to eat waffles and rewatch Battlestar Galactica.

    Kyubo begins with our eponymous protagonist chained to a dungeon wall, unsure of how or why he's there.  Despite an appearance that should indicate an affinity for dungeons—Kyubo is either a reverse skeleton or a man in a bondage suit—our confused hero quickly frees himself with a nearby key and begins searching for a way out.  His journey outside will require platforming, puzzle-solving, and patience, but it's an escape well worth making.

    I've played through Final Fantasy VII at least ten times since its release in 1997.  Unfortunately, no matter how much you love making the journey beyond Midgar, the trip gets harder every year.  The clunky controls, abstract graphics, and "active" time battles have not held up over the years, leaving fans with a nostalgic fondness for a game they can no longer enjoy.  The creators of The Black Tower share that nostalgia, but acknowledge it's 2013 with their "neo-retro" homage to one of Square's finest, and PS1 RPGs in general.

    There's a growing tendency towards abstract, single-serving gameplay that is beginning to define the casual gaming space.  As the ultimate renditions of pick-up-and-play, entries like Hundreds, Mosaique, and Blendokuhave dropped shiny gems and cutesy creatures for the sake of simplified, streamlined, and perfected puzzle mechanics.  Although not a genre definer alone, Color Zen is a worthy addition to their shapely ranks.

    The Zero: the mysterious interstate in central Kentucky that everyone seems to know about, but no one completely understands.  Act I of Kentucky Route Zero introduced our protagonist, Conway, to the existence of the Zero and set him on a persistent path to find it.  Act II follows up on Conway's discoveries and experiences as he continues trucking about the surrealistic backwoods in an attempt to make his final delivery of the night.
