    Tango can't catch a break. Finally, the poor guy - err... monkey - is relaxing in the sun with his simian soul mate. Then BAM! He's falling prey to the oldest trick in the book. "Surprise damsel capture by a super-villain with only a vague hint of motivation." Like any good ape with a cape, Tango sets off to rescue his true love. Luckily for us, the game that results isn't half bad.

    As the mobile platform grows explosively, it's becoming increasingly typecast as the "new arcade." So much so, in fact, that you see industry veterans like Xbox co-creator Seamus Blackley assembling entire studios geared at reliving the coin-op glory days. Me? I'm not so sure. No, there's certainly no denying that retro-style gaming is alive and well on our phones and tablets. So too, however, are point-and-click adventures, "thinky" puzzlers, and a growing number of personal stories.

In a recent post on their company blog, however, TinyCo's Director of Business Development Jennifer Lu sought to take one Android stat out to pasture with some figures from the company's latest release Tiny Village.

    7:30 PM: All right, I think I've gotten the hang of Polymer. I've unlocked all three modes, played each one to death, and made some pretty awesome shapes. I'm really digging this "chess meets LEGO" vibe. I should have all the notes I need to finish this review...unless. Maybe just one more game? 12:30AM: File. New Document.

    When I heard I'd be reviewing Shaun the Sheep - Fleece Lightning, I was torn. On one hand, I thought, it's an "advergame," a hybrid genre home to gems like this. On the flipside, however, the brand it's married to is that of a razor-sharp children's show by the creators of Wallace & Gromit. Could this Chillingo-published title rise above dismal standards to provide - you know - fun? Spoiler alert: Heck yes.

    Call me old-fashioned, but I miss real multiplayer experiences. The ones where adding a second or third player meant having people in the room instead of waiting for people to join your "room" online. And while it's done wonders to get more people playing, one of my biggest gripes about casual gaming is that less people seem to be playing together. Enter Centrifeud: a great new excuse to yell at your friends and family.

    I'm the kind of person for whom "scared of spiders" is a huge understatement. Normally, I'm curling slowly into the fetal position while my girlfriend poisons the beasts with a bottle full of shower cleaner. So it's perhaps the highest compliment that I can give to say that Amanita Design's Botanicula makes me want to give the collective insect world one massive hug.

    There's nothing quite like time off. The troubles of work behind you. Rest and recuperation ahead. Looking to capture this siesta spirit, developer Black Pearl Games has released Aero Vacation - a management title set in a world of luxury jets and constant relaxation. Unfortunately, this Chillingo-published sim feels a little too much like a trip away, complete with hours on end of nothing to do at all.
