    Episodic gaming is a pretty new phenomenon. It's tough to judge one episode over another. It's like looking at a movie and judging it only by any given 20-minute segment. With the release of Back to the Future Episode 5: Outatime!, we're finally able to give the entire season the perspective it needs, and heartily deserves.

    Ever since Barbie stormed onto the scene many years ago, she epitomized what was wrong with marketing to girls. Sure, she's gotten way better over the years, and her proportions have started to get a tad more realistic, but she's still all-plastic, all-American, female fakery. Top Girl has managed to destroy every stride that marketing to girls taken in the last 30 years in one fell swoop. I know I'm not Top Girl's target market, but I shudder to think how the creators of this game feel about theirs.

    Mobile gaming just keeps getting better and better. In the last few months, I've played more unique, original gameplay concepts on my iPhone than I have in the last several years on the big-boy consoles. Case in point: Zzed. It's a great mix of Asteroids, Bust-a-Move, and pool that somehow all seems to work.

    This is the worst kind of review to do. On paper, a game does just about everything right. But one or two big details bring the entire experience down from what it should be. Baseball Superstars II fits this to a T. It's got everything going for it, but is marred by a couple of major issues. I really wanted to like this game more than I did.

    Allow me to weave you a yarn about a man named Jim. This man is a wonderful person, full of wit, charm and humor. Jim also fails spectacularly at playing Hanging with Friends, a social, online version of the classic childhood game of Hangman with a few extra bells and whistles.

    Just in time for the Stanley Cup Finals (go Canucks!), Icebreaker Hockey storms its way onto the iPhone. Like its sibling Backbreaker Football, Icebreaker Hockey isn't about simulating the actual skills in a real game of hockey. Rather, it's more of a challenge just to get from one end of the ice to another without the snot being beaten out of you. Wait a minute, it is just like a real game of hockey! Thankfully, Icebreaker Hockey isn't nearly as painful.
