But when the core gameplay is so interesting and fresh, can it really be held against it? 3Tones tries to make music an integral part of the gameplay and doesn't. But even with the sound muted, 3Tones is a great match-three puzzler with enough twists and innovations to keep you playing.

Her Interactive is just a few weeks away from releasing the second title in the Nancy Drew Dossier series, Resorting to Danger After the amazing success of the first game, Lights, Camera, Curses!, Gamezebo was excited to try the sequel. We've had some hands-on time with it, and everything looks like it's shaping up to be a worthy successor to the Nancy Drew moniker.

    When playing a game, it's sad that, in spite of solid efforts from a developer, the word that first leaps to mind is formulaic. Babylonia, while well-crafted, has a big case of the "me-toos." It's a shame, because there are some interesting ideas in the game, but not enough to make it really stand out. Essentially your basic match-three tile game, Babylonia has you rebuilding the fabled Hanging Gardens of Babylon to please the goddess Ishtar. By playing the game, you gain resources including flowers and different coins, which are used to rebuild the gardens piece by piece.

    The latest Nancy Drew adventure from Her Interactive, Ransom of the Seven Ships, is the twentieth game in the series. In spite of the quantity of games, the Nancy Drew titles manage to keep a high quality level, with fun writing and devilish puzzles. Ransom of the Seven Ships maintains this tradition, while trying to add some new twists to the formula, albeit with mixed results.

    The original World Mosaics title was a decent "picross" title, brimming with loads of puzzles and a mildly interesting story that wove the main game together. Its sequel, World Mosaics 2, returns with the plethora of puzzles of its predecessor, improves on some aspects of the first title, but strangely addresses none of the issues. The story picks up after the first World Mosaics. As soon as you discover the secret to the Pelasgian civilization - and the secret to the city of Atlantis - you encounter a strange hourglass artifact which has suddenly thrown you back in time to the age of the dinosaurs, shattering in the process.

But Aztaka, a new, independently-developed game from Citeremis, shows that when a developer has reverence for both the history behind their game as well as while crafting it, great things will likely result. And result they have. Set in Mexico in1328, Aztaka follows the story of an Aztec named Huitzilo, a young man with a big destiny. His task is to find the seven keys to the Path of Gods and bring balance back to his people and his land. Aiding him in his task is Ayohpa, a hummingbird with a mysterious past, and Huitzilo's source of magic. The two warriors must stop the evil Snake Woman, Chihuac, who murdered your mother.

    It's amazing what a little look back at gaming history can do for perspective. I have been hankering for a realistic pinball game with decent physics, table design and control for a while now. Imagine my surprise when I played Pro Pinball Fantastic Journey. This game managed to fulfill my needs for a good pinball game. But here's the kicker: They accomplished it ten years ago. Thanks to download site Good Old Games, this historical oversight can be rectified. Released back in 1999, Pro Pinball Fantastic Journey is the fourth title in the series. Each part of the name plays a key role in the gameplay experience.
