    Word Train is, and I don't want to blow your mind here, a word puzzle game with a train theme. Your task is to take three train cars that have different letters on them and use them to create words to solve themed clues. You'll start each round with 5 clues for different words, and then 15 trains with the combinations of letters on them. You solve the clues in any order, and each train piece is used just once.

    In Tweet Land, your job is to drive your car from point A to point B while trying to sideswipe other cars off the road, in sort of a Bump N Jump sort of way. While doing this, different events unfold to throw up obstacles that are all triggered by real life tweets. Someone mentions "meteor" on Twitter, and boom! One hits the ground in front of you. It's an interesting idea with a fun retro mechanic. So how did Tweet Land end up being both not fun and morally disgusting?

    The setup for Timeline is about as simple as it gets. All you have to do is place down cards that have different inventions/discoveries/etc on them in the order that they came into being. Correct cards are flipped over and the year they were invented is displayed. As you play more and more cards down, it gets a harder and harder to place them correctly since you have more dates showing. You're likely going to learn something new while playing, and yes - they manage to make such learning fun!

    The honest truth is that I would've checked out whatever Playdek came out with after their phenomenal iOS recreation of the card game Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer. I was a big fan of the original card game so had high expectations of the digital port, and they blew them all away. Making a game that good buys you an awful lot of trust and willingness on my part. Impress the heck out of me, and you can bet I'll be there to check out your follow-ups. No questions asked.

    Q-Games has been on a weird tangent lately. In the beginning, they made and released their Pixeljunk brand of games only on the Playstation Network for the PS3 and PSP. They enjoyed a decent amount of success that way, developing a reputation as a developer of niche, daring and interesting games. Since then they've branched out, announcing a version of Pixeljunk Monsters for Facebook of all places, and have followed that up by porting what some consider to be their best game, Pixeljunk Eden, to the PC.

    This needs to be said right at the top and I promise I'm not overstating this... the animation in Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is GORGEOUS. Potentially the best I've ever seen in a videogame, let alone on an iOS device. It's stunning, and though it's all in cutscenes, every time characters start moving around I can feel my jaw slowly dropping. I could probably fill an entire review with how sharp it looks when it's in motion, and still not adequately convey how good Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective looks.

    The story and vibe of Bean's Quest screams retro, but not in that tacky, trying to cash-in on nostalgia way. It harkens back to a time when every company was trying to make a weird mascot to build a game around, and it's how we ended up with games like Aero the Acrobat, Bubsy the Bobcat and even the 7-Up Cool Spot. Some of these game were surprisingly good (Cool Spot), but most were just pretty terrible. Where does Bean's Quest land?

    You know how in a rhythm based game like Rez, Lumines or Patapon, everything you do or interact with adds to the music of the action? Whether it's a drum beat or riff or whatever. it all just builds and builds until you're playing this fantastically organic song just by playing the game? It's quite euphoric when it all comes together and you feel like you're honest to god creating music. Yea, I love that feeling. AVSEQ doesn't have any of that.
