    When a game has a good idea, it can be quite the refreshing experience. Unfortunately these ideas aren't always executed well. This is the case with the soccer management titleThe Sun: Football Legends. A game centered around progressing individual soccer players, as opposed to a whole team, it attempts to mix moral choices with mini-games of the sport itself, yet offers little cohesion between the two. Containing minimal user feedback and poor instruction, the app feels more like an amalgamation of random features rather than a complete game.

    The latest incarnation of TeamLava's "Story" franchise has released onto iOS in the form of Pet Shop Story. Having already visited the business simulation realms of restaurants, zoos, and bakeries, now it's time to give cute little puppies and kitties a whirl. Centered around the same formulaic design as its predecessors, the new release offers nothing dramatically new to the genre or even the franchise itself. Nevertheless, its system has worked in the past and Pet Shop Story does improve on the relatively iterative series.

    At first, there was only the farming simulation type of social game on Facebook. But in the past few years the city-builder has also risen to insane popularity. As such yet another is making an appearance in the form of Skyscraper City. Hosting most of the core elements that make the genre what it is, the new application does attempt to change things up rather drastically with the inclusion of amusing events and an almost LEGO-style manner of construction.

    A little bit of sorcery has come to iOS today in the form of the newly released SpellCraft from Appy. A role-playing game of sorts, the title combines elements of the older, core-gaming genre with those more reminiscent to the mobile and social spaces, such as moderate "farming." Though somewhat basic, it marks a nice change of pace from the constant deluge of simulation applications.

    One would think that a game centered around parties would be a bit more exciting, but PartyMania, from developer SparkyBee, is not. In concept, the Facebook app is interesting, letting you travel around a virtual world setting up parties. But in practice it feels more like a bunch of parts that only barely fit together. Along with that, the business simulation title is a bit lax in the game mechanics department, hosting a slew of concepts that have already been done to death.

    It's time to play a little baseball with the Game Ventures developed Facebook title Homerun Heroes. A mix of the common team management style of social sports play and more twitch-based reactions, the game is not so much a true baseball app as it is more a hybrid of homerun derby and the actual sport. Incorporating more unique aspects of play than most social sports games, Homerun Heroes is more interesting than most, but other than this novelty, it lacks any real reward for play.

This new app brings all of the favorites of the previous mobile title back into the fray, but presents them in a new, three-dimensional, format. Though it hosts higher quality visuals and push notifications, the game is not all that distinct from its predecessor. That said, the title is solid, despite its aged genre.
