    Games, more than any other entertainment medium, thrive on the concept of the mascot. Mario. Sonic. Master Chief. Angry Birds. The list goes on. With Peakour, developers Gotta Pea are definitely shooting for creating the next mascot brand. It's a tough sell attempting that with a vegetable, and they definitely missed the mark in this regard—but thankfully they succeeded in creating an above average puzzler in the process, even if it doesn't necessarily do anything that mobile gamers haven't seen already.

While it does have its share of flaws, a good number of gameplay options help to justify the asking price.

    One of the major problems facing iPhone 3D games is the issue of movement. Some games have tried to superimpose buttons and joysticks on the screen, which in my estimation is a terrible way to try to navigate game space. With Brandnew Boy, developer Oozoo has come up with an elegant and surprisingly effective way to move—unfortunately, that is about the long and short of what is good about the game.

    After having turned off my phone in disgust for the umpteenth time, I come into this review as a beaten and defeated man. BlockHopper, a game from Green Pixel, is frickin' hard. Perhaps it is simply my ego talking, but after numerous attempts, I still cannot get past the seventh level of the game—and I contribute more to the controls rather than a lack of skill on my part. As such, unless you're a glutton for punishment, you should probably steer clear.

    There is not one specific thing you could point to in Diggin' Dogs that was out and out bad. The mechanics work flawlessly, the game is easy to understand, and there is plenty of content for the admission price. If you could point to any one thing though, it comes from the calculation behind the craft of the game—Diggin' Dogs just borrows too much from an already successful formula.

    There is something oddly soothing and comforting about a game that sets up its own rules and variables, and then allows players to think through the effects logically (based on those rules and variables) to solves its puzzles. What is not so soothing is when a game sets up the rules and variables, and then fails to give you enough feedback or enough consistency for the game to be rewarding to play. Thus is the folly of Miniclip's Feed That Dragon.
