    Twisted Lands: Insomniac goes for the gusto right out of the gate with a creepy doctor who says, "I don't want to scare you, but we're going to do a lobotomy." That lobotomy is going to be done on you, by the way, and you just happen to be strapped to a gurney - but hey, don't worry or anything, it's all good. And Insomniac only gets better from there. It doesn't always make perfect sense and the Collector's Edition bonuses are extremely weak, but the game itself, particularly for horror HOG fans, is definitely not to be missed.

    Paranormal Crime Investigation: Brotherhood of the Crescent Snake is a game in need of balance. It looks great, sounds great and serves up some of the most challenging hidden object gameplay I've ever run into to. But everything else about it is disappointingly half-baked, from the short, silly story to the dull minigames and even the unimpressive collector's edition extras. The net result is a game that hints at excellence but ultimately falls short of the mark.

    Nightmare Realm is an odd game. It looks like a fairly straightforward horror adventure, yet it's set primarily in a colorful, almost lighthearted fantasy world. And while it never even approaches the horrific, it's so thematically dark as to be one of the most disturbing adventures I've ever played - but also one of the most engaging , engrossing and outright entertaining.

    Another day, another demon bent on turning the world into a churning pit of ash and fury, and luckily for all of us who prefer it the way it is, another hidden object hero(ine) who just happens to be sitting around at home with nothing to do when the call comes in to save the day. That's the setup in Secrets of the Dark: Temple of Night, a new, determinedly-decent game that drops players into the middle of supernatural shenanigans in a small Mexican town.

    There's too much unintentional hilarity in Dracula: Loves Kills for it to work as a serious vampire tale, but if you can either overlook (or embrace) the hackneyed character art and voice acting, and don't mind some rather uninspired bits of mini-gaming, you'll find that it's a very entertaining and surprisingly lengthy hidden object game with an unexpected and most interesting twist.
