    For platform games like Beep, controls are the difference between frustration and fun. A game can be extremely demanding but feel absolutely fair if you feel like you're not fighting the game's controls, but merely your own incompetence at using them. Beep definitely wants to be from the demanding-but-fair school of platform games, but makes some control decisions that make the game feel frustrating to play. The control lapses are deeply regrettable, as Beep is otherwise an inspired game in every sense of the word.

    Pool Master 2 is another one of Social Point's Facebook games that feel more like a downloadable title, this time taking on the time-honored genre of PC pool games. Pool Master 2 turns pool into an attempt to get the highest score possible in two minutes of play. A player gains points for sinking shots into the pockets, with bonuses for combination shots and a penalty for scratching (that is, sinking the cue ball into a pocket). Power-ups appear in certain locations on certain tables, granting bonuses like extra time on the clock or the ability to make power shots.

    Super Crayon doesn't feel much like a Facebook game when you initially play it. The action-puzzle gameplay and bright minimalist graphics feel more like the sort of thing that a mobile developer would come up with for iOS or Android. The goal of the game is not to score attack or do anything else you'd usually do in a Facebook action game, but instead an arcade-style attempt to try and survive for as many levels as you can. You even get three lives each time you start a new session and can earn more lives by getting particularly high scores.

For instance, take Domo, a silent stop-motion animated character who serves as the mascot of the Japanese broadcast network NHK. You would expect that no one outside of Japan would care about such a character, but Domo is popular in the West and appears on t-shirts, plush toys, comic books, and other collectibles. Planet Domo is his charming and surprisingly fun entry into the world of Facebook games. This game does not appear to be localized, but instead created specifically for the Western market by noted developer TheBroth.

    Monster Fusion is the latest in a growing number of games that attempt to bring the obsessive-compulsive appeal of Nintendo's Pokemon franchise to Facebook. Monster Fusion is much more successful at this goal than most of its competitors, since it had the good sense not to emulate Pokemon too closely. Monster Fusion redesigns the well-worn monster training RPG from the ground up to suit the needs of the Facebook gamer. The result is a game that is fun, completely engaging, and free of many of the annoyances that drag down other Facebook attempts at the genre.
