    Zynga's Treasure Isle is a profoundly simple game, but in gaming simple concepts can be the most compelling. In Treasure Isle, you are a treasure hunter who digs for treasures on deserted isles until you get tired and have to go home. You can decorate your island home and tend to your garden while you wait until you're well-rested enough to go hunt for more treasure. That's the sum total of what Treasure Isle has to offer.

    PoxNora was originally a client-based online game developed by a company called Octopi, LLC. Sony Online Entertainment acquired Octopi last year and seems to have relaunched the original game as a Java-based Web and Facebook app. Most gamers associate Facebook games with light, casual fare. PoxNora is a turn-based blend of war game and CCG that's deep, complex, and very demanding.

    There is little more frustrating than an interesting premise, executed poorly. Doors of the Mind: Inner Mysteries should be one of the most interesting hidden object games I've played recently, since it takes place primarily in the main character's subconscious. There is a certain dreamlike quality to the item-stuffed tableaus that most HOGs present to a player, so making an HOG that's literally a trip through the protagonist's mind should make for some brilliant casual gaming.

    Café World is one of the games Zynga has launched since the massive success of FarmVille, and its overall style of play is very influenced by that game. By serving food to customers and performing sundry other tasks, you can earn enough money to customize your little café to fit your tastes and grow it into a larger restaurant. Every recipe in the game requires a certain amount of time to create, anything from five minutes to three days.

    Most modern people hold down stupendously boring jobs, enervating affairs that primarily involve being chained to a computer screen or paperwork for about eight hours a day. I don't think it's a coincidence, then, that some of the most popular casual games are themed around jobs that involve physical, immediately satisfying tasks: running a restaurant, managing a hotel, taking care of pets. There's a point in time when I could've imagined a game about real estate offering fun escapism to a bored office drone, but it's pretty surprising to play something like Jane's Realty 2 after the housing market collapse.

    Treasure Seekers: Follow the Ghosts reunites globe-trotting adventurers Tom and Nelly, out on a mission to solve mysteries that all seem to demand fetching bits of random junk out of cluttered (but gorgeous) locales. This is a game that proves the old truism about good graphics making game experiences better, as you'll do little in Treasure Seekers you haven't done in other HOGs. Follow the Ghosts just makes every object more beautiful and every locale you visit, from France to Siberia, is immaculately detailed.

    Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches is possibly the only adventure game you'll ever play that's based on the Welsh cycle of myths called the Mabinogion. Before this game is over you'll have learned all about the folk hero Pryderi, taught yourself the ancient ogum alphabet, and become an amateur mage wise in the magical properties of trees. It's a shame, then, that Rhiannon is held back by poor controls and even worse graphics.

    Prior Diner Dash sequels were starting to walk down the path of feature bloat, offering distractions instead of real enhancements to the original game's customer service balancing act. Diner Dash 5: BOOM! effectively reboots the series, making it more player-friendly without sacrificing any of its basic appeal. Balancing a game out in this fashion is no small feat, making Diner Dash 5 feel as deep yet approachable as PopCap's Peggle.
