    Vivio's Wild West Express seems to be the end result of throwing FrontierVille, CityVille, and Lucky Train in a blender. It's effectively a Wild West themed city-building game where you need to build a thriving frontier town along a railroad. You need to carefully manage how you use your town's water supply, since every economic activity you can engage in consumes water. Will you use your water to run trains, grow crops, or simply try to attract people to your station? Your water supply regenerates over time, so you've got room to experiment with different sorts of activities.

    Virtual pet games were one of the first things to really take off on Facebook, resulting in a slew of mature, full-featured pet-raising sims like Pet Society. In light of that, it's a little confusing that a game as rudimentary as iPet even exists. iPet is Facebook virtual pet gameplay formula boiled down to the very basics with a rudimentary fighting feature attached. The variety of pets you can own is pretty limited (chicken or rabbit, basically) and while the decorating options are appealing, a confusing tutorial and poorly-localized in-game text make the game genuinely hard to enjoy.

    Draw My Thing is basically an Internet version of the classic party game Pictionary. Players gather together in a chatroom-like environment, with one player given 60 seconds to draw a picture that evokes a keyword. Other players who guess the word gain points, while the artist gains points for drawing a guessable picture without cheating and just writing the word down. After everyone draws one or two pictures, depending on total number of players, the points are totaled up and a winner is declared. You get the option to share your (often hilariously bad) artwork with your friends if you like.

    Dungeon Overlord is a pleasant surprise of a game. The overall play style is similar to other Facebook grand strategy games like Kingdoms of Camelot, but Dungeon Overlord is more than a new fantasy wrapper around an old gameplay format. Dungeon Overlord also draws inspiration from an older PC title called Dungeon Keeper, where the player is an evil overlord who has to build and defend a dungeon. Dungeon Overlord ups the ante, letting you conquer nearby dungeons and fight other overlords for supremacy.

    The most important thing to understand about GodsWar Online is that it's not really a Facebook game. It won't run in your browser and requires a fair-sized client download. GodsWar Online is really just a typical localized Asian free-to-play MMORPG that happens to support Facebook Connect. When you play GodsWar Online "through Facebook," what you're really doing is just logging into the game's Facebook server. If you're the sort of player who likes Facebook games you can poke at in your browser during TV commercials, you can stop reading this now. You don't want to play this game.

In Mighty Pirates the fights are primarily against other players' pirate crews, while the treasure hunting is also a search for valuable resources you need to upgrade your ship.

    On the face of it, Ninjas Rising is a text RPG in which you are a ninja and fight other ninjas through means of flipping out and killing people. What's actually going on with this game is a little devious, though (as befits a ninja game). You might remember that a few months ago, Digital Chocolate began publishing games called Vegas City and Hollywood City that were pretty much just new skins and gameplay tweaks applied to its older game, Millionaire City. Ninjas Rising similarly is a variant of the game engine Digital Chocolate also uses for Epic Fighters and MMA Pro Fighter.

    Catch a Killer brings a lot of firsts to Facebook. It's one of the first major social games from MMORPG developer Sony Online Entertainment and one of the first social games to be heavily promoted based on the involvement of a celebrity author. Casual games are frequently based on popular novels and writers, though, and in many respects Catch a Killer feels like a casual game that's been taken online. While it has avatars, items, and energy-based tasks to complete, it's also heavy on mini-games and searches for hidden objects.
