Two massive mobile MOBAs have landed on the App Store over the past week. In the red corner we have League of Legends: Wild Rift, the pocket-sized version of Riot Games’ smash hit. In the blue corner we’ve got Marvel Realm of Champions, the new collaboration between the house of M and Kabam, the team behind free to play brawler Marvel Contest of Champions.

Both of them take different approaches to the genre, but as we all know, in the fight for mobile supremacy there can be only one winner. And that’s why we’ve written this feature, to decide once and for all, which is the best – League of Legends: Wild Rift or Marvel Realm of Champions.

We’d love to hear what you think, so make sure you let us know in the comments section at the bottom of the article. Before we get there, though, it’s time for these two MOBAs to duke it out to find out which of them takes the mobile crown.

Depth

League of Legends: Wild Rift

With almost 50 characters to unlock, huge levels and an awful lot to figure out, League of Legends: Wild Rift is packed full not just of content, but of things you’re going to need to learn if you want to master the experience.

Marvel Realm of Champions

There are just six characters to play around with at the moment. There are different game modes, but once you know what you’re doing things are pretty simple.

Difficulty

League of Legends: Wild Rift

With that depth comes a pretty steep learning curve. Your first few games are going to feel overwhelming if you don’t already have some grounding in the MOBA genre.

Marvel Realm of Champions

After a brief tutorial you’re going to have most of what you need to know to win down. From there you can jump across the different game modes with ease. Picking up a new character is pretty simple as well.

Marvel Realm of Champions

Playability

League of Legends: Wild Rift

The controls on offer here are super slick, although on smaller screens they can get a little bit fiddly. There’s always a game waiting for you, and regular challenges and goals to aim for.

Marvel Realm of Champions

There are fewer buttons to worry about here, and the UI is far less cluttered. But there’s slightly less of a feeling of being in control. In terms of community and challenges though, Marvel Realm of Champions nails it.

Style

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Everything about League of Legends: Wild Rift is polished and precise. The game looks gorgeous, whether you’re checking out the character on offers, navigating the menus or deep in a battle.

Marvel Realm of Champions

As you’d expect from a Marvel and Kabam game, this one’s super good looking too. And the extra levels of customization on offer mean you can really make your champions your own. That gives MRoC the edge, but only just.

Longevity

League of Legends: Wild Rift

If the success of the PC version of the game is anything to go by, then League of Legends: Wild Rift could well stick around for ages. It’s certainly got enough content to keep you entertained for an awfully long time.

Marvel Realm of Champions

The fights here are a lot shorted, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing for a mobile game. Kabam’s other Marvel game has been going great guns for a couple of years, but whether Realm of Champions is going to do the same remains to be seen.

Overall – Which Is Best?

If you’re looking for a fully fledged MOBA that works brilliantly in the palm of your hand, then we reckon you should definitely be picking up League of Legends: Wild Rift. It’s got everything you could want and more.

But if you’re looking for something with a little less heft and a better understanding of the inherent limitations of mobile play, then Marvel Realm of Champions is a solid bet.
