Teppen Beginner’s Guide: Cheats, Tips and Strategies

Teppen is a brand new card battler on mobile that offers a very different experience from that which we’re used to from the genre. As a result, it’s probably going to take some time for genre newcomers and experts alike to adjust to its unique style of gameplay.

Fortunately for you, we’ve spent a bunch of time with the game to bring you a few tips and tricks that will help you with the early game. It won’t get you to master level, as there’s a ton going on here, but it will get you started on winning in this awesome new experience.

Teppen Tips and Tricks:

• How Teppen Works: You’ll pick a hero, build a deck out of troop and spell cards, then battle enemy players and AI in a variety of different modes. Heroes have unique signature moves – super powerful abilities that you can use throughout the battle by spending AP. You earn this particular energy from playing cards. Playing cards costs MP, which slowly recharges in a similar manner as it does in Clash Royale. Each card costs a certain amount of MP to play, and has its own statistics, including health and damage. You can play a troop card on one of three different lanes, and when you do so it will charge up an attack and unleash it at the opposing card in the same lane, or your enemy’s hero if there is no card in that lane. Defeat an enemy card and it will be removed from the board. Defeat the enemy hero and you’ll win the match. Ability cards are much like spells. Use one and the opposing play will have an opportunity to counter it with a spell of their own – provided they have the MP for it.
• Unlock all of the heroes: When you first play Teppen, we recommend unlocking all of the heroes as your first order of business. This will teach you how each of the heroes play and get you familiar with the mechanics in a safe environment. Picking which hero you use is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make in Teppen, as their signature move can be a total game changer when used appropriately.
• Gain an MP advantage: Much like in Clash Royale, you’ll find yourself winning more matches if you have a solid understanding of how to gain an MP advantage. Simply put, you want to try and make it so you have more MP to spend than your opponent, allowing you to attack without fear of counterattack. The easiest way to get this is to counter cards that your opponent uses with cards of your own that cost less MP. That will require a fair bit of knowledge of the game though, so in the early game we’d just try and draw mistakes out of your opponent.
• Use your signature move as soon as it’s available: Your signature move requires AP to use, and you’ll earn AP by unleashing cards. Once it’s fully chjarged, we’d recommend using your signature move immediately, as you’ll waste the AP you gain from using any cards while it’s fully charged. This isn’t an exact science though, as many heroes have signature moves that are pretty situational.
• Practice makes perfect: Once you’ve got enough cards to start building your own deck, we recommend heading over to the practice space and playing around with decks to develop something that works well for you. You could do this online, but it’s far less humiliating to just try it in the privacy of a battle against AI.
