If you’re looking for something to spice up your Pokémon GO experience your prayers have been answered. Celebi is being added to the game on August the 20th.
Developer Niantic announced the news earlier today, as well as exactly how you can catch the little green Mythical Pokémon.
You do so by completing a special research quest – basically it’s very similar to how you unlocked Mew.

So it’s far more than just completing a single challenge like in the game’s field research quests. To unlock Celebi you have to go one step beyond and finish multiple challenges.
If you’ve already caught the green mythical creature you’ll be gifted some Celebi candy too, so it’s an added feature that (technically) everyone should be able to enjoy.
