As we edge ever nearer to the double craziness that will be E3 and Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference next week, things are decidedly quiet on the App Store. Whether they’re prepping for flights, or just worried about competing for attention, developers seem to be playing it safe this week.

Don’t worry though, we’re not completely without new releases worth checking out. In fact, the following eight look like they’ll be pretty great.

Heroes of Loot 2

If you were a fan of Heroes of Loot (and who wasn’t?), you’ll be pleased as punch to jump into the sequel. Dive deep into a dungeon with a pair of heroes in search of riches and loot — and control both characters as you go!

2-bit Cowboy Rides Again

2-bitCowboy-Desert[1]

The original 2-bit Cowboy was a fantastic throwback to GameBoy-style play, and the sequel looks to offer more of what we loved about the first. If you haven’t experienced this objective-based cowboy platformer yet, there’s no reason you can’t start with the sequel.

One Hundred Ways

If you’re looking for a puzzle game with a lot of flexibility, this should scratch that itch. Guide a ball to a hole using a variety of objects, solving puzzles in your own unique way.

Blazblue RR

While Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat might get all of the attention, hardcore fighting enthusiasts have long been in love with the BlazBlue series. Today this bastion of punching and kicking gets a mobile entry.

Epic Flail

Ready for some Roman action? Epic Flail promises a fast-paced 2D brawler of gladiatorial craziness, with players battling wave after wave of opponents (and maybe even a god or two).

Fury Roads Survivor

It’s a shame that that Mad Max mobile game never saw the light of day, but maybe this fan-made alternative can give movie-goers what they’re craving in their pockets.

Skyforce Unite!

Kairosoft were once hailed as the kings of mobile simulation games — but can they do it again with a squadron of RPG-style plane battles? Let’s find out together.

Rule With an Iron Fish

While there’s no shortage of fishing games on the App Store, few offer as quite a quirky outlook on the sport as Rule With an Iron Fish. The description promises that players can catch “108 hand-painted, scientifically-inaccurate fish.” Bait your hooks, fisherfolk.

Jim Squires is the Editor-in-Chief of Gamezebo. Everything you see passes his eyes first, so we like to think of him as "the gatekeeper of cool stuff." He likes good games, great writing, and just can't say no to a hamburger. Also, he is not a bear.
