Want to get some great loot? Sure, we all do.
There’s plenty of it in Blood & Glory: Immortals, which leaves behind the first-person gladiatorial combat of its predecessors in favor of an action RPG approach. Regardless of which of the game’s three character classes you pick, your job is to clear out dungeons as quickly as possible, though doing so occasionally pits you against the gods themselves.
If that sounds daunting, no worries. Following Gamezebo’s Blood & Glory: Immortals Tips, Cheats and Strategies will help ensure you find and evolve the best weapons and armor, allowing you to track down even better gear — because the loot train never stops!
- Don’t stress too much about your choice of character class. The important thing to remember is that the Warlock and Gladiator are both melee fighters, with the Warlock all about damage and the Gladiator packing more defensive abilities thanks to his shield. The Barbaress throws her axes, making her the choice to battle from a distance. Â While you level up each character individually, you can switch between them at any time from the Game Settings menu — that’s the little gear icon in the upper-right corner.
- Most enemies are merely cannon fodder, and can be defeated fairly easily by basic attacks or using abilities if they attack in large numbers. Boss battles are different, as those generally can’t be won by attacking head-on. Each boss has a specific pattern of timing and attacks, so study what they do before committing yourself to all-out offense. You’ll be able to figure out safe times and angles to use just through observation. Don’t be afraid to use potions or revive scrolls during boss battles either, as you’ll likely never need them any other time.
- Speed is the name of the game. You’re on a timer that begins as soon as you first drop into each level, and to get the best possible grade, you need to clear out all of the enemies as quickly as possible. Don’t poke around; keep moving in the direction the arrows point you as soon as you’ve killed everything in sight.
- Your Gear Score, or GS, is everything. It’s a reflection of how powerful your character is overall, and a sum of the individual GS values of your currently equipped weapon, armor and accessories. Each level has a recommended GS, and some will not allow you to even try to tackle them unless you have a certain minimum number. If you choose to ignore the suggestions, be aware that you’ll probably have your hands full, as enemies will be quite strong compared to you.
- How do you increase your GS? The primary way is to simply find better equipment, either as drops or from tributes. Items with a higher minimum level almost always have higher GS values, as do items of higher rarity (i.e. Epic is better than Rare, which is better than Uncommon, etc.). Fusing unwanted items to improve the ones you like the most also raises GS, but relatively slowly, even though the benefits of the fusion may be very real.
- Another method to improve your weapons and armor is to insert Spirits (the game also sometimes calls them Runes) into them, which are diamond or triangle-shaped items you’ll find that grant extra elemental bonuses. To add a Spirit, you’ll first need to drill a socket in the item you want to improve, and that costs gems, the game’s premium currency.
- Skills have a specific order of progression, as every time you level up, you’ll be able to buy or improve a specific skill using only coins. You can skip to other skills if you wish, but you’ll have to spend gems to do that. Active skills will map to a button in the lower-right corner of the screen, while passive types will either grant bonuses at all times or activate automatically under certain circumstances.
- If you run around the game’s small town in-between quests, you’ll find various NPCs who can help you with different tasks. However, you don’t need to visit them, because all of their functions can also be accessed from the slide-out menu on the right-hand side of the screen. Maybe Glu just wanted it to feel like an MMO, or it could have larger plans for this area down the road.
- A list of current quests can be accessed from the scroll on the left side of the main screen. Many quests require you to either defeat a certain level for the first time or to kill a certain number of enemies in a level. The latter type of quest will often need multiple runs through that level, so grinding is a necessary evil in Immortals. For example, one quest asks you to kill five Gladiator Mentors and five Arena Champions in the “Sewer Escape” stage … but since only one of each boss shows up during a run, you’re going to have to play it five times to finish the quest.
- Joining a Guild isn’t manadatory, but the game makes it easy to do so since it’s free to start one and there are plenty of them out there. Guilds primarily come into play during events, as being a member of a higher level Guild enables you to win better loot from successful event battles. Currency and special items called Relics can be donated by each member to help raise the Guild’s level.
- Speaking of events, they’re a little different than normal stages as they focus on survival for a certain amount of time against ongoing waves of enemies. An additional goal is to slay as many of one kind of monster as possible, earning you points that can win you rewards depending on where you place on the leaderboard at the event’s end. Special gear can help with both spawning and killing more event monsters when equipped. You can only enter event battles until you run out of the lightning bolt icons at the top of the screen (three is the max you can have at one time), after which you’ll need to wait for them to regenerate over time, refresh them with a special consumable item or buy more with gems.
