Settlement: Colossus Walkthrough
Welcome the Settlement: Colossus walkthrough on Gamezebo. Settlement: Colossus is a simulation game played on PC created by Alawar. This walkthrough includes tips and tricks, helpful hints, and a strategy guide to how to complete Settlement: Colossus.
General Tips
- The goal of Settlement: Colossus is to build a progressively sophisticated settlement by maintaining basic life-supporting resources while acquiring the knowledge necessary to exploit new resources and tools.
- There is no timer or point goal to be reached in order to progress.
- Trophies can be earned and points are awarded for each trophy. Earning every trophy earns 1,500 trophy points. Trophies do not impact the game or affect the outcome
- Progression to the next age is attained by finding the resources necessary to complete the assigned primary tasks.
- Secondary tasks will be also be assigned. You don’t need to complete these tasks to progress, but they will offer bonuses in the form of resource upgrades or trophies.
- Mini-games, called Quests, can be skipped after the skip bar fills and you will still get the upgrade or artifact associated with the quest. Depending on how many quests you skip, however, you will lose a minimum of 200 trophy points (completing all mini games) and possibly an additional 50 points for failing to complete10 mini-games.
- Hints are available when searching for hidden resources. The hints cannot be directed toward a specific item, but the bar refills quickly and there are not limits.
- There is no penalty for random clicking when trying to find an object.
- The guide to progress listed in the Development tab is usually, but not always, a good way to progress. Deviations and the reasoning are noted in the applicable chapters.
- The sequence to complete an active task is: assemble the resources required; click “Research” to begin completing it. Some tasks, such as constructing buildings, will take a specified number of days. Other tasks, such as acquiring new tools, will be available immediately,
- Each trip to an area where resources are located is the equivalent of one day and will cost a fixed amount of food and wood supplies at an increasingly higher rate as the game progresses. If a tool is needed, such as an axe or gardening tool, that resource will also be deducted from your supply.
- When collecting resources, the deduction for food and/or wood occurs first. This is important in the first two chapters when it is hard to maintain the level of food and wood necessary. To demonstrate this, assume the following: Current balance of wood is 6. You go to the forest and collect wood. Even though the cost is 10 units of wood per day, the game will deduct only the 6 units you have. When you return from the forest the balance for wood shows the 10 units you just collected. No resource will have a negative balance.
- Doing Research to upgrade or add a new building or gain knowledge adds a day to the time it takes to complete a chapter, but costs only the resources indicated. The deduction for food and wood applies only when visiting a resource area.
- You cannot enter and exit a resource area at will. Once you have entered a resource area, you can return to the main settlement by collecting the maximum amount of resources, or clicking on the Menu tab in the upper left corner and clicking the “exit” option. You will return with only the resources you have collected and will be charged for one day of food and wood. Access to the area will be closed.
- Strategy Tip: Always collect the maximum amount allowed. If you enter a resource area only needing five units of an item but your capacity is ten items, fill the remaining five with resources you are low on or stockpile a resource for later use.
Starting the Game:
Facebook Connection:
Initially the game will attempt to log you into Facebook.
If you do not have a Facebook account, you can sign up via this screen.
If you don’t want the Facebook connection, click cancel, then close the Facebook window to begin the game.
Note: Even if you don’t use Facebook for anything other than this game, it’s worth it to get an account or you’ll have to go through this step every time you want to play.
If you connect to Facebook, your choices are:
- Allowing the game access to post on your wall and add to the news feed. This means every time you begin to play the game, it will post on your wall that you are playing and send this to all of your friends. If your friends are Facebook savvy and don’t care to know why you’re unavailable, they can always click “Hide” for the Settlement: Colossus and block just those announcements from you. Clicking “Don’t Allow” will begin the game.
- If you clicked “Allow Access” on the above step, your next choice is if you want the game to automatically post progress reports. If you choose “Don’t Allow”, the game will be briefly interrupted periodically to ask if you want a specific accomplishment published.
- If you want to control when the game accesses your account, click “Don’t Allow” on the last step. If you do, you will be asked to sign in to Facebook (the first screen) each time you play. To enter the game more quickly, click “Allow”.
The above shows the publication options available with Facebook

Settlement Map
This shows where the civilization will grow and is your main working area.
- Clicking a Resource Tab will show how much of each category of that resource you have collected.
- Click the Tasks tab to see your progress on primary and secondary tasks.
- Available resource areas will be indicated by icons showing what resource can be collected. Placing your cursor over the icon will display the name of the resource.
- A small hammer icon next to a building indicates an active task associated with that building. Placing your cursor over the icon will show what resources are needed to research the task and how much you currently have of each resource.
- Clicking the Fire Ring takes you to an informational section showing the development of the civilization, resources, artifacts collected and their meaning and a description of the village buildings.
Information Section
Development
This a visual guide of tasks to be completed for each chapter and a way to track your progress.
- Only tasks in rotating circles are available to be worked on. Clicking on the icon for an available task will produce a pop-up window showing the resources needed and your current supply. When you have met the criteria necessary to produce the item, click “Research”.
- Completed task icons are bright and connected by vines to either the center column or, in the case of subtasks, their associated main task.
- Dimmed icons require other tasks to be completed before work can begin. In the above illustration, work cannot begin on constructing a farm until the forge has produced gardening tools. Clicking on the dimmed pickaxe icon under the forge shows it is dependent on the farm.
Resources
This tab can give you a pictorial view of the total amount of resources accumulated by category. Clicking on the “V” will expand the category to show how much of each item you have. If you have collected an artifact for an item, a small icon of the artifact appears in the lower right square. Placing your cursor over the icon gives additional information about the artifact.
Artifacts
Artifacts are objects obtained in various ways throughout the game that will increase the per unit amount of a resource collected.
Village
This is a pictorial reference of the resource locations and buildings constructed throughout the game.
Using these tabs in conjunction with the Task tab on the settlement map will help you plan your strategy for the game.

Task 1: Care for the People
Click on the Tasks tab for information about the first task.
There are two elements associated with this task: collecting ten units of berries for food and ten units of firewood for warmth.
Note: The use of Units in the tasks to collect berries, brushwood and reed is inconsistent with the rest of the game.
For both the berries and the brushwood in this task and the reeds in the next task, the game counts the amount supplied as a unit. For the rest of the game, a unit is one of what you are collecting. Here is what happens with this task using berries as the illustration:
- One clump of berries increases the amount of food by three. Collecting only four clumps of berries (Food = 12) will satisfy the requirement for this task. The rest of the game, however, assumes one clump equals one unit so you must collect ten clumps (units) to meet the requirement.
Be sure and collect ten clumps of berries and ten pieces of brush at their specified locations. If you collect only the minimum amount to meet the requirement for these two tasks (four berries, two brush) the resource areas will be closed and you will be unable to continue the game.
Close the tab to return to the map.
There is only one resource area available, by the lake, and its icon indicates it only contains berries.
Click as indicated to enter the resource area.
Berries are in abundant supply but you can only collect a maximum of ten items at a time.
Each berry cluster counts as one unit and increases the food supply by three. By collecting 10 units of berries, the total food supply is increased to 30.
You can leave a resource area without collecting the maximum amount allowed, but the best strategy is to stockpile as much as possible of each resource for later use.
Click OK to return to the map.
The Forest resource area is now available and the icon indicates it contains brushwood.
Click on the twig icon to collect the firewood.
Each piece (unit) of brushwood increases the wood supply by five. Collect the maximum amount allowed (10 units).
Click OK to return to the map.
Note that the Food and Wood resource tabs at the top now reflect what you have collected.
The number in parenthesis indicates the units of the resource needed for visits to resource areas.
You have completed the first task.
Click in the center of the fire ring to access the information section.
This tab shows what activities must be done to progress.
Currently only one task (undimmed in a rotating circle) can be done to upgrade the living conditions of the people.
The dimmed upgrades cannot be made yet. These upgrades are dependent upon other upgrades being completed as they may require the use of a particular resource or knowledge not currently available.
Click on the highlighted Braiding icon.
The Upgrade box shows what and how much of each resource is required. It also shows what you currently have. Since you have sufficient resources for this upgrade, click Research.
The Basket icon is now illuminated in a rotating circle.
Clicking on the Basket tells you that the knowledge of braiding can be used on a new resource: reeds. Click OK.
Collecting a sufficient number of reeds will allow you to create a basket artifact enabling another new food resource, mushrooms, to be collected.
You do not have a sufficient number of reeds collected to make this upgrade so click Cancel to close the popup box.
Click OK to return to the village.
When you returned to the map, the units needed to research braiding briefly showed by the fire ring. The amounts of food and firewood have decreased by the amounts needed to research braiding.
Click the Tasks bar to see the next task.
Primary Task 2: Reed
Goal: Collect 30 units of Reed
Note: The confusion of units and supply is the same for this task as it was for the berries and wood. The goal is to increase the supply of reeds by 30 in order to construct baskets. This is the last time this mistake is made
A different icon appears above the forester’s hut showing berries, brushwood and reeds can be found there. Click the icon
The location of the items on your screen may not match the above screen shot. The same resource locations are used throughout the game, but the location of the items and the views of the locations changes.
Each reed (one unit) collected increases the supply of reeds by five.
There are two options here:
(1) Collect just enough reeds (6) to complete the goal of making the basket and a combination of berries and brush for the other 4 units.
(2) Collect 10 units of reed (+50 Reed) and no berries or wood.
Referring to the table of resources at the beginning of the chapter, note that a supply of 55 reeds will be needed. The current supply of food and wood are sufficient, so begin stockpiling the reeds. Choose option two and collect only reeds.
This completes the second task.
Primary Task 3: Collect Mushrooms
Your new primary task is to research baskets then collect 15 units of mushrooms.
Click the fire ring to go to the Development tab to research baskets.
Click the Basket icon in the rotating circle.
The upgrade of gathering equipment requires 30 reeds, which you have already collected.
Click Research. Receive
- Artifact: Basket of Plenty
- New Resource: Mushrooms
Returning to the settlement, note that the Lake location now has reeds and mushrooms available.
The glowing scissors indicate an artifact is also available at this location: Golden Scissors
Collect the three parts of the Golden Scissors (shown in pink). The scissors increase the efficiency of collecting Reed. Each reed now provides two more units of that resource.
The game is now correct regarding units versus supply for the task requirements.
Only 8 of the 15 units of mushrooms are available so fill the remaining 4 units with reeds.
When you have collected all of a resource available at a location (i.e. the mushrooms) the icon representing this resource is eliminated at the top of the screen.
The Results show the Reed collection at the normal rate of 5 per reed plus the extra amount per reed (+2) earned by using the Golden Scissors Artifact.
On the Development tab, click the Clay icon. There are now sufficient resources to upgrade the building materials.
The sundial icon shows this will take one day to complete.
In the above example the upgrade will consume all the Wood resource, leaving you with a zero balance. In this chapter the game will let your people go hungry or cold and allow you to continue playing. Later chapters will force you to replenish your supplies when they are getting low before you can continue fulfilling an objective.
Click Research.
Return to the forest to collect the remaining units of mushrooms.
There is a new red mushroom icon at the top of the screen. This represents a secondary task of getting rid of all six of the poisonous mushrooms. There are two at this location (circled in green above).
Clicking on the red mushrooms does not count toward your 12 item collection limit.
Collect the remaining 7 units of mushrooms (circled in aqua) to complete the current primary task.
Collect the 4 units of wood available (circled in pink) to replenish that resource. There is still one unit available in the basket so gather one unit of berries.
This completes primary task three.
Primary Task 4: Clay Houses
The clay resource is now available.
Whenever there is a building to construct, a small hammer will appear next to the area. Placing your cursor over this hammer will show what resources are needed to complete construction. The Development tab is still needed to check how many days are needed to complete the task.
To upgrade the houses, 75 units of clay and 55 units of reed are needed. Some units of reed are already available.
Return to the forest to begin collecting resources.
Remove the two red mushrooms (circled in green)
Collect
- 5 units of clay (yellow)
- 2 units of brush (pink)
- 5 units of mushroom (aqua)
Returning to the map, there is a secondary task: repair the bridge
Click on the exclamation point above the man’s head to begin the mini game
Span1.
Solution: For each span, begin from the left and place the piece numbered 1. Interlock the remaining pieces in the order indicated. Match the horizontal bars on the planks as shown in each solution.
Span 2
Span 3
Enter the cavern and collect the 12 units of clay
Go to the forest to obtain the remaining amount of reed, wood and berries.
The last two red mushrooms are here. Collect them and receive the Book of Mushrooms artifact.
Return to the map.
Click on the small hammer by the fire ring and click research to complete the upgrade of the houses.

The following is a suggested method to complete this age. Based on your beginning resources and the amount you need to accumulate, your choices may be different.
Task 1: Mountains
Explore the mountains and discover ore. There is no cost associated with this task.
Task 2 Properties of Ore
- Collect 30 Units
- Research the properties
Location: Mountain
Collect:
- 12 Ore (+60)
- 0 Reed
Task Completed: Collect 30 Units of Ore
Task: Research Ore Properties
- Cost: -30 ore
Click on the Ore icon on the Development tab. Click Research.
Task Completed: Research Ore Properties
Task 3: Forge
Build Requirements:
- Ore: 70 units
- Clay: 50 units
- Reed: 50 units
- Research: 3 days
The map above shows the resources available at each location.
The numbers in parenthesis indicates the maximum possible of each resource. The current limit is still 12 units.
Strategy Tip: The cost to visit each location should be -20 Food and -15 Wood. If you have 0 of either or both resources, the game will not penalize you or force you to fill this resource before continuing. Taking advantage of this will allow you to complete the age faster, but you will not be able to collect the stone grinder artifact to increase your supply per unit of wood collected. This artifact may be purchased through the Oracle in the next age, however.
The statistic for the number of days required to complete the game is not kept and not a goal for the game.
Beginning later in this age, the game will force you to focus on food and/or wood if the supply falls too low. Should you choose to finish this age as quickly as possible, going to the lake and cavern first then collecting the maximum amount of reed in the forest will save three days of the wood resource (45) and reduce the food supply to zero.
Choose your own strategy here: Continue to collect food and wood to keep your people fed and warm, or go for speed.
After you have collected sufficient resources to begin construction of the forge, click on the hammer icon by the forge location. Click Research.
It will take three days to complete and will require additional wood.
The map shows there are two resource locations available while the forge is being built. Based on your game play strategy, go to the forest to get wood and food, or the lake to continue to build on your amount of clay and ore.
Quest: Clay Idol Artifact
Goal: Collect the resources needed to assemble and obtain the Clay Idol Artifact.
Collect the 10 gems (pink), 5 pieces of chain (aqua) and the pick axe handle and head (yellow.
Drag the head to the handle to form the pick axe.
Collect the frame for the jewel (red).
Drag the jewel pieces to the frame.
Place the jewel pieces into the frame to form the gem as shown above or watch the video to see how the stones are placed
Hang the gem from the chain.
Possible locations for the idol appear as circles of light.
Use the pick and click on a circle of light. In this instance, the idol is on the left wall. The location will vary.
Collect the idol artifact. For every unit of clay collected, the supply will increase by five.
Task Completed: Forge
Resources need to be collected to research two new tools: Axe, Garden Tools. There is also a quest to complete.
Strategy Tip: When a task is presented, always complete it immediately. The timing of the quests coincides with either increasing production of a needed resource or providing a resource-free day while a building is being constructed.
Quest: Magnet
Goal: Find the magnet hidden in the cavern.
- Collect 10 pieces of metal (pink), sack (yellow) and bucket (blue).
- Fill the bucket with water from the pool (blue)
- Drag the iron to the sack.
- Place the sack of metal on the anvil
- Click on the inventory button (dashed green) to lower it.
- Pick up the hammer (1) previously hidden by the inventory items.
- Click the hammer on the sack of metal bricks on the anvil (2).
- The bricks turn in to crushed metal and go to inventory (3).
- Drag the metal filings to any place on the wall of the cave and click to dust them. No matter where you click, the filings will go to the position marked 4. Because magnets attract metal, this shows the location of the magnet. Return the remainder of the filings to inventory.
- Drag the bucket of water to the collection of filings on the wall (5) and click to pour the water.
- The magnet (6) is revealed. Click to collect this artifact
Collect the magnet artifact. For every unit of ore collected, the supply will increase by five.
Refer to the axe and garden tools icons to see what and how much of each resource is needed to obtain them.
Strategy Tip: Research the axe first. The axe will provide a new wood resource, logs, which will make increasing the wood supply faster. Researching a tool will give you an initial supply of 10 of that time. Five axes will be deducted each time you go to a location to cut wood.
Secondary Task: Collect 10 logs
If the mountain location with the grind stone, ore and reed icons is available, go to this location. Obtaining the grind stone artifact will increase the supply of wood per log collected.
Location: Mountain
Collect the 5 pieces of the stone grinder (pink) to sharpen axes and increase tree cutting production.
Collect the maximum amount of ore available (it will vary from 11 or 12 units.)
There are now sufficient resources to begin working on the farm tasks.
Click on the hammer icon by the forge for Garden Tools. Click Research.
10 Garden Tools have been added to the Tools section.
Task: Collect 75 Garden Tools
Garden tools are hard to spot. In the above scene they are outlined in pink. They can be hoes, the lower half of a pitch fork, garden sheers, or hand rakes.
Visit the forge twice to collect the 75 garden tools. Collect the maximum number of garden tools available each time then pick up axes to complete the 12 units.
Each visit to the forge deducts 15 from your supply of wood and ore so you may need to build up these supplies before beginning to collect the tools.
Task: Build Farm
Cost: -50 clay, -25 reed, -75 garden tools; time: 2 days.
Click Research to begin construction
Now that it is easier to collect larger amounts of food and wood, the game will force you to address the need before progressing. The international sign for “No” will appear near the area(s) needing a resource. Placing your mouse over the icon will tell you what resource needs replenishing and how much you need.
Secondary Task: Collect 8 magic seeds
There is a seed icon at the forest and lake locations indicating this is where some of the magic seed are. The seeds will not count toward the 12 unit limit so select other resources you need while you get the seeds. When all the Magic Seeds have been collected, the per-unit amount for food from the farm increases by 10.
When there are sufficient supplies to research pickaxes. Complete this task.
Having pickaxes allows you to access a new building material: bricks. The cost for collecting bricks is five pickaxes.
Task: Research Sauna
Cost: 30 brick, 20 reed, 5 days
Once the sauna is being constructed, a new secondary task will appear.
Secondary Task: Maze
Click on the torch on the top left of the screen to begin navigating through the maze. Knock off stones until the all the stone slots at the bottom of the game screen are full. You gain an extra 50 bricks for completing this quest.
Continue collecting clay and bricks while the sauna is being built. A total supply of 50 clay and 150 bricks will be needed to construct the stone houses. Check your inventory to see how close you are and concentrate on these two resources.
Secondary Task: Plumbing
To complete this puzzle, match the numbered pipes along the side to their position in the center. The completed connections are shown. Completing this puzzle increases the supply of bricks by five for each unit.
Before you begin construction on the stone houses, check the Tasks bar. If you still have logs left to collect as a secondary task, you can return to the forest to collect the remaining logs. There is no penalty for not completing secondary tasks. There are points awarded for completing all the secondary tasks but if you are motivated to complete the construction of the settlement in as few days as possible, skip this task.
Chapter 3: Middle Age
There are more options for how to proceed now. Following the task lists you are given isn’t always the most efficient. To help you make your own decisions as to how you’d like to play, the following table shows the requirements listed in the order displayed on the Development tab. Use this as a reference when making decisions about resources to collect.

*CB = Clay Bricks; CD = Clay Dishes; GT = Garden Tools; PA = Pickaxe |
Recommended Approach:
- Forge. Tools are always needed to get raw materials and the new shovels will come in handy quickly.
- Potter’s Shop. Clay dishes are needed to upgrade the farm.
- Potter’s Wheel. Get the clay dishes.
- Shovel. Needed for the cellar
- Cellar. Makes food last longer
- Farm. Get more food
- Heathen Temple. Needed to start Oracle’s Temple
- Oracle Temple. Valuable upgrades are available for purchase.
- Potter’s Wheel. Begin accumulating clay bricks
- Plow. For vineyard
- Vineyard. For grapes
- Mining. Last because it adds to visit to Forge and the gold resource is not needed immediately.
Task1: City Development
- Build Potter’s Shop
- Build Level 2 Forge
- Build Level 2 Farm
Only the potter’s shop and forge are available.
Start collecting bricks and clay. After one trip to the cavern you should have enough materials for the forge. Before you begin the upgrade, check your supplies of axes, pickaxes, and garden tools. Replenish as needed. There is also a quest that comes up quickly.
Strategy Tip: Begin the forge upgrade before the quest as quests require a day with no resources needed. They also generally give timely artifacts.
Quest: Vegetables
Align the strings so all plants are lit up. Following are the solutions.
Puzzle 1
Puzzle 2
Puzzle 3
Puzzle 4
Artifact received: Large Basket to carry 13 units of a resource.
As soon as there are sufficient resources to begin the Potter’s Shop, do the upgrade.
Refer to the table of resources as you’re collecting items to see what is coming up.
Quest: Torches.
Arrange the torches so all squares are lit. The torch artifact will add five to the supply of bricks per unit.
Quest: Magic Stones
Collect the items outlined above: wooden bucket, grappling hook, axe, four pieces of rope, and a stone near the water.
- Fill the bucket with water from the stream
- Place the stone in the fire
- Pour the bucket of water over the stone to reveal the gems
- Use the axe on the tree stump to find another gem
- Drag the rope to the grappling hook then place the assembly on the far tree.
- The rope will grow tight allowing you to cross the water and collect the final gems
Strategy Tip: Once the Potter’s Shop is completed, upgrade the potter’s wheel before the kiln. The wheel produces clay dishes, the kiln produces clay bricks. The 100 clay bricks won’t be needed until the end of the era for the houses so they can be collected a few at a time during the game. The dishes, however, are needed for the farm. By only having the potter produce just the dishes, you can accumulate the 110 you need quickly.
As soon as you have accumulated enough resources to build the cellar, begin building it. It takes two days but will reduce the amount of food required. Perform the upgrade before doing the next quest,
Quest: Caterpillars
Collect the 15 caterpillars as shown above.
As you’re waiting for the plow to finish, complete another quest.
Quest: Cellar Light
Rearrange the gems so the incoming light reaches the globe.
The plow must be assembled.
Place the pieces according to the blue outlines that appear. The completed plow is shown above.
Continue collecting resources as needed. Be sure and check what the Oracle is offering periodically. Items are added as you progress through an era and some are era-specific and are not available once you have progressed to the next level.
The last task in every era will be to click the Research for the living accommodations.

Strategy Tips:
- The number of tools and resources has expanded to the point where a particular resource or tool may not be available when you need it. Keep an eye out for what is being offered. It is worth a trip to a location to add to a supply of a particular item as it may not be available the next time you look.
- Pick up scissors whenever you can. There are usually only three or four available at any one time and trying to accumulate them takes time.
- Stockpile clay, ore and wood as much as possible. In addition to needing them for upgrades, they are also required for resource visits (wood), the potter’s shop, and the forge.
- The unknown metal upgrade associated with the school is coal. Finding coal will add to the fuel (wood) supply.
- Try to upgrade the Oracle as soon as possible to buy her potions.
- More Quests are available to speed up the availability of a location upgrade without expending resources. Do them as soon as they appear.
The task list order is good for this chapter. Begin with upgrading the forge. The circular saw is needed for planks used for the farm, sauna, school, Oracle, jewelry shop and building the houses. New and more tools are needed.
Quest: Scarecrow
Collect the items highlighted above: long stick, rope, shirt, knife, bells, hat, pumpkin and shovel
Assemble the scarecrow:
(1) Place the long stick from inventory into the hole (circled)
(2) Use the shovel the place dirt in the hold to secure the pole
(3) Place the short pole near the top of the long pole
(4) Tie the two poles together with the rope.
(5) Place the shirt on the poles
(6) Drag the knife to the pumpkin in inventory to carve it.
(7) Place the carved pumpkin atop the pole.
(8) Place the hat on the pumpkin
(9) Drag the bells to the scarecrow to complete it.
After obtaining the first load of planks, the saw breaks. Repair it to continue collecting planks.
A new task, creating a market place should be a priority. It will allow you to exchange all those reeds for one or two items you’re missing to do an upgrade.
Also, don’t put off upgrading the scissors for too long, they’ll be hard to come by later.
If there are two upgrades for a location but only one is showing on the map, go to the Development tab. This occurs when one of the upgrades is part of a primary task but you want to take a different path. This can occur if you are trying to get the Oracle upgrades (needs wine), but the farm only shows cheese is ready to be added.
Once wine making is complete, a new quest appears
Quest: Cases
The goal is to get the box out of the door by moving the cases around. Below are the screen shots of the finished puzzles. Here is a video of the rearranging if you want to see it.
Puzzle 1
Puzzle 2
Your reward is 50 bunches of grapes.
As you await your upgrade for trade by completing the school, two more mini games are made available to help you pass the days.
Quest: Termites
Collect the 20 termites circled about and you’ll receive 50 planks.
Quest: Scales
Scale 1 weight order: 2, 3, 1, 3, 3
Scale 2 weight order: 3, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3
Scale 3 weight order: 3, 3, 1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 1
When you upgrade the furniture at the carpenter’s shop, you are rewarded with five more units of production of planks by completing a quest.
Quest: Carpenter Ruler
Fit the pieces as shown above so none overlap or connect with a knot in the wood.
Quest: Constellation
You’ll be asked to find all of the outlined star clusters.
Quest: Boiler
Once the sauna is built, the boiler must be completed. This quest, similar to the plow, will show the outline of the required piece. The above shows the completed boiler.
The secondary task to light the mines can be completed by going to the Oracle and buying a jar of lightening bugs.
If you are waiting to fulfill a hard-to-get item, look at the resources needed for the next chapter and begin stockpiling until you’ve completed all the primary tasks.

Strategy Tips:
- There are four locations available to be worked on: The potter’s shop, farm, stone quarry and bakery. The first primary task is to start with the quarry. This is a good approach because marble will be in high demand for this age.
- Assess your current level of resources and compare what you have with what will be required for the above tasks. Note that three of the active locations require planks. A visit to the carpenter’s shop might be a good place to visit.
- Keep an eye on the map for a resource you need. If the item you need doesn’t show up after two or three trips to other areas, visit the location and build up items that can be exchanged at the market. The item you’re waiting for will probably be available when you exit the location.
- Hard item to collect: thread. You need 150 for the harbor and fishing tackle but they are hard to come by. Go to the farm every time you see thread offered.
Location of secondary task, magic stones:
- Earth – Forest location by lake. Increases olives supply by five per unit
- Wind – Mountain with waterfall. Increases brick supply by five per unit.
- Water – Harbor. Increases fish supply by five per unit
- Fire – Cavern. Increases supply of wheat by five per unit
Quest: Stone Crusher
Follow the blue outlines to complete the crusher as shown above. The crusher adds +5 to a unit of marble produced.
Quest: Oil
Goal: Get four measures of liquid into a five measure jug.
- Fill to 5 measure jug then pour it into the 3 measure jug (result: 5 = 2 3 = 3)
- Pour the 3 measures back into the vat (result: 5 = 2, 3 = 0)
- Pour the 2 measures from the 5 measure jug into the 3 measure jug (result: 5 = 0, 3 = 2)
- Fill the 5 measure jug then pour into the 3 measure jug. (result: 5=4, 3=3)
- Game complete.
To view these steps, here is a video showing the process
Strategy Tips:
- Building the harbor is essential to bring trade and making different goods available. Concentrate on this task.
- After the university has been upgraded, concentrate on getting the resources to upgrade the medicine. The medicine upgrade initiates a secondary task: adding 50 scrolls to the university.
Quest: Gold Scale
Goal: balance the units of gold to the weight measure.
Solution: 16 weight
- Gold pieces: 1, 2, 3, 6
Solution: 13 weight.
- Gold pieces: 1, 4, 5
Solution: 23 weight.
- Gold pieces: 1, 3, 5, 6
Reward – 50 scrolls
The upgrade to the pharmacy takes three days. One day can be passed by doing the associated quest.
Quest: Potion
Goal: Add ingredients and keep water boiling. The above shows one solution. Yours may be different
Upgrade the harbor as quickly as possible. It will add a valuable additional food resource, fish, and permit the holiday upgrade to become active.
Strategy Tip: Toward the end of this age, begin stockpiling marble, planks, thread, pickaxes and gold. These are critical items needed for the next chapter.

Recommended Approach:
- Stone Quarry. Marble, columns and statues are needed for three buildings
- Carpenter’s Shop: Papyrus is a key resource for the temple consecration and cartography

- Harbor: Initiate sea trade to get needed resources to complete upgrades, pearls to help complete Colossus.
- Bakery: Secondary source of food when lose fish to pearl collection
- Temple: Consecration
- Jewelry Shop: Need gem processing for crown
Strategy Tips:
- Make use of the village and harbor markets to get the supplies necessary for construction or upgrades.
- Get the upgrades from the Oracle to accumulate resources faster.
- Collect gold whenever it is available
After the temple construction has been completed, a secondary task appears: Temple Decoration.
Quest: Columns
The column pieces will lock when you have the correct combination. The pieces on the ground will also lock when placed correctly.
Quest: Wall Paintings
Goal: Spot the similarities. There 10, not 12.
Quest: Gold Coins
Goal: Find 20 gold coins.
- Pick up the items circled in pink: axe, key, olive oil jar, shield, sickle
- Collect the seven visible coins (circled in red)
- Pick up the coin revealed when the shield was collected
- Use the sickle on the waving sea weed.
- Use the axe on the jar and the side of the ship
- Pour oil on the lock on the chest and insert the key.
- Position the shield in the beam of light (shown with dashed pink line) to reflect into the ship
- Collect all the coins
Reward: 50 units of gold
Once the harbor has been completed, a cannon is needed to initiate trade.
Quest: Cannon
Assemble the cannon according to the outlines provided.
The last temple decoration that needs restoration is the horse statue.
Quest: Horseman
Goal: Fix the statue
- Axe: Remove horn on head and extra tail part (pink)
- Paint: Add eyes and paint the left front hoof (green)
- Hammer: Straighten the spear, pound in the rivets on the shield (aqua)
- Sandpaper: Remove the rust from the helmet and shield (red)
The settlement is complete and Helios is appeased.
Congratulations! You have completed Settlement: Colossus.
