Games We Can’t Wait to Play: Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online, OOG! Clan of the Caveman and more!
We spend a lot of time looking at games here at Gamezebo. You’d expect as much – heck, it’s in our name! But have you ever wondered which games the Gamezebo staff are really passionate about? The ones we can’t personally wait to get our hands on?

Last week’s entry was penned by Editor-in-Chief Jim Squires, but this week’s comes from Associate Editor Dant Rambo. Dant has way better tastes than Jim, and so this list will no doubt be the best one yet.* Dant is also sick of writing about himself in the third person, which means it’s probably time to stop with the introducing and get with the game listing.
Kentucky Route Zero – Act 2 (PC, Mac)
It’s no secret that I fell in love with the first act of Kentucky Route Zero. I gave it a perfect score in my review, and expressed my firm belief that the best is yet to come. Although we know precious little about what Act 2 will be like, that’s largely what has me so excited. This is a game with a wonderful mystery at its heart, and I absolutely can’t wait to dive back in and take another step towards resolving it. But until then, I’ll continue to poke around in the game’s first act, slowly experiencing everything it has to offer.
I think I might be obsessed, you guys.
Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online (Online)
The Ghosts ‘n Goblins series has always had a special place in my heart. I played the NES version of the first game constantly as a child, and while I never managed to beat it, I still always had a good time. Ghosts ‘n Goblins Online appears to be quite the departure from its predecessors, but I still can’t help but get excited by the notion of exploring the series’ dark medieval setting in the context of a 2.5D MMO. Problem is, it’s completely up in the air as to whether or not Capcom will release it outside of Korea. Fingers crossed!
Penny Arcade’s On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4 (PC)
I absolutely loved the first two Penny Arcade games, so when I heard there wasn’t going to be a third one, I was pretty bummed out. But then something amazing happened; Zeboyd games took over where original developer Hothead Games left off. Although it’s always a little unsettling to see a new developer take the reins on an established series, Episode 3 more than lived up to the excellence of its predecessors.
Zeboyd and Penny Arcade are working even closer together for Episode 4, meaning it will probably be the best sendoff a fan could hope for. Personally, I’m hoping for even more villainous hobos and mime octopi. That’s reasonable enough, right?
OOG! Clan of the Caveman (Facebook)
What makes a good Facebook game? An entire book could be written on the subject, but my personal answer is simple: addictive gameplay and sabre-toothed cats. Not the broadest of requisites, I’ll concede, but the heart wants what it wants.
So, with that in mind, you can no doubt see why I’m particularly excited about OOG! Clan of the Caveman. It’s pretty much everything I could ask for in a social game, and its hand-drawn visuals are nothing short of eye candy. If you seek further reason to be hyped about it, I recommend watching the video above. If that doesn’t hammer home the game’s potential for you, I’m not sure anything will.
Hackycat (iPhone, iPad)
It’s hard to hear the name “Hackycat” and not be intrigued. It’s got a certain ring to it, and it rather deftly explains what the game is all about: kicking around a bunch of virtual cats. But before you go calling PETA, the game is incredibly tongue in cheek, as evidenced by its art style, and the fact that you can play as a wolf wearing a headband. It looks like pure, arcade-y fun, and I can’t wait to get my hands—or feet, I guess—on it.
