Arrow Fest is a game about leading an arrow down an obstacle-filled path. You need to hit gates to get more arrows, before launching your volley of spiky ammunition at a cluster of bad guys. It’s a simple premise, but there are some things you’re going to have to get to grips with if you want to get the most out of the game.

So we thought it’d be a good idea to write a strategy guide. It’s this one. You’re reading it now. And it’s made up of all of the hints, tips and tricks that we’ve uncovered during our time playing Arrow Fest.

Whether you’re about to fire your first arrow, or you’ve been chucking them for a while, there’s going to be something here that’ll take you from Robin Dud to Robin Hood. See what we did there? Anyway, here are the best hints, tips and cheats for Arrow Fest.

Aim for the blue gates

When you’re leading your arrow down the track, you want to try and hit the blue gates – these are the ones that are going to add more arrows into your volley. Red gates, on the other hand, will take them away – you should avoid these at all costs.

Do the math

Sometimes you’ll be presented with two gates with different equations on them – one might be a multiplier, the other an addition. Quickly figure out which is best and aim for that one. A good rule of thumb is the bigger the number of arrows you’ve already got, the more likely the multiplication gates are going to get you the biggest reward. And remember, dividing by one leaves you with exactly the same number you started with.

Try and avoid enemies

When you’re moving down the track, try and avoid hitting enemies if you can – sure, it’s fun to kill things, but if you do you’ll lose an arrow. Sometimes hitting an enemy is unavoidable, so don’t go too crazy trying to miss them, but if you’ve got a chance, it’s best to preserve your arrows.

Spread, but not too wide

When it comes to the last section of the level, you want to spread your arrows just wide enough to cover all of the enemies you need to take down. Spread your volley too thin and there’s a chance you’ll miss, group it together too closely and you won’t take out the bad guys on the edges.

You can go off the edge of the track

Sometimes there’ll be a red gate in the middle of the track that you want to avoid – you can slide to the left or the right and move your arrows off the track to do that. It won’t let you slip past when there are two red gates, but you can make it past one pretty darn easily.
