Pile It 3D is a game that involves dropping balls into mazes. They roll about for a bit and then, hopefully, come to rest in one of the spaces you need to fill. It’s a simple enough game – you just tap to release balls – but there are some things you’re going to have to think about a bit more carefully if you want to complete every level without a hitch.

And that’s why we’ve written you this guide. It’s composed of the best hints, tips and tricks that we’ve discovered during our time playing Pile It 3D. Follow these and you’ll be raking up the perfect ball drops in no time flat.

Whether you’re just starting out with the game or you’ve been piling things up for a while, there’s going to be something here that’s likely to take your game – quite literally – to the next level. So here are our top five best hints, tips and cheats for Pile It 3D.

Count then tap

In the early levels your best ploy is to count the places where balls are supposed to go, then tap the button that number of times. It’s rare you’re going to have to do any more strenuous thinking than that in the first handful of levels, so tap through quickly to get to the more challenging sections.

Watch out for bottlenecks

As you progress you’re going to want to look out for bottlenecks. These are spaces where multiple balls are going to jam up and leave you stuck. If you think there’s going to be a bottleneck, then be a little calmer with your taps. You’ll often find them in levels where you’re releasing multiple balls at the same time.

Look for extra balls

Sometimes there’ll already be balls on the level. Often they’ll be in a position where you’re going to give them a nudge when you drop a ball, sending them rolling into one of the spots you need to fill. Include these in your calculations for the number of taps you need, otherwise you’ll end up releasing too many balls.

Play the bonus levels

The bonus levels offer some of the most interesting challenges in the game. They’re like the normal levels, but turned up a few notches on the difficulty setting. You won’t get anything extra for playing them, per-se, but they will scratch at your gray matter a little more, which should be exactly what you’re after.

What can I spend my coins on?

You can spend your coins on new styles of ball and new backdrops. These don’t actually change anything about the way the game plays – they’re purely aesthetic changes. If that’s what you’re into, then fair enough. If not, there’s no point watching the videos to increase your coin haul at the end of a level.
