Illusion Connect’s first crossover event is with Zombie Land Saga, the cult hit anime about a zombie pop group – and it launches today.
If you’re a fan of mobile strategy games, or mobile games in general, you’ll know all about Illusion Connect, Superprism Technology’s superb free-to-play RTS in which you have to collect, befriend, and battle with Radiants.
Zombie Land Saga is less familiar outside the Far East. The premise of the show is that a necromancer called Kotaro Tatsumi has resurrected a number of girls from throughout Japanese history and put them to work in a zombie idol band called Fran Chou Chou.
The deals with familiar tropes of adolescent struggle but in a kooky, imaginative, zombie-filled way. The second series began on the 8th of April.
The Illusion Connect crossover event, meanwhile, launches today. It introduces three of the anime’s main characters to the Illusion Connect universe, including series protagonist Zombie No. 1 Sakura Minamoto. Here’s a bit of background.
Zombie No. 1 Sakura Minamoto met her untimely end ten years before the events of the show, after being hit by a truck on her way to an idol audition. Now she’s back to fulfil her idol ambitions.
The others – Zombie No. 4 Junko Konno and Zombie No. 3 Ai Mizuno – are both former idols who were killed in the line of duty. Zombie No. 3 Ai Mizuno by lightning on-stage and Zombie No. 4 Junko Konno in a plane crash while on tour. Their previous success has made them sceptical of Kotaro Tatsumi’s abilities as a manager.
It goes without saying that these new Radiant guest stars have their own unique personalities and skills. So when players put them together in the battle, they will stay as zombies upon death. When fighting as a zombie, they will invite other Saga allies to fight with them.
Superprism Technology has made a special Dream Show on the Illusion Connect YouTube channel to celebrate the Zombie Land Saga event too, and you can watch that below.
