It’s not the most complex game, but there are a number of different layers that you’re going to have to get to grips with if you want to become a Shoe Race success.

The most important thing in the game – in fact, pretty much the only thing in the game – is changing your shoes. You want to make sure your changing time is perfect every time. Tap just before your first foot is about to land on the new surface. The better your timing, the fast you’ll go and the higher the multiplier you’ll get at the end of the race.
The gems can be used to unlock new variants of your outfits. This is essentially a cosmetic change – you’re not going to get faster or unlock any special moves if you put on new outfits. In other words, they’re worth getting, but we wouldn’t recommend watching any videos to increase your gem haul.
When you’ve collected three keys you get to play a box-picking mini-game. Here you can unlock new outfits or, more likely, get a bunch of gems. When you’ve used your three keys, you’ll get an option to watch a video to get three more. It’s entirely up to you whether you want to do that, it all depends on the balance you’re aiming for between the previous tip and the next one.
It’s always worth watching the videos to unlock new outfits. Not only do they change the look of the game, some of them change it mechanically – albeit only slightly. Grab as many outfits as you can and you’ll find that the game is going to keep your attention for much longer than if you’re just stuck with a couple – more outfits means more fun.
Sometimes you’re going to get behind in a race. Don’t fret too much. Keep pushing on, getting as far as you can in the level. Eventually you’ll lose, but you’ll still unlock a percentage of the next outfit and get some gems. Learn from your mistakes and try to come back stronger the next time round.
