The headline-dominance looks set to continue with the announcement of MU Archangel – not a sequel, but a whole new spin-off set in the long-running MU universe.

In fact, Webzen claims that MU Archangel has “most closely inherited” the gameplay and feel of MU Online, the classic PC MMORPG that started it all in 2001. It’s the closest you can get to the original experience on mobile.

Like MU Online, MU Archangel will give you three distinct classes to choose from: Dark Knight, Dark Wizard, and Elf.

It’ll also contain the same features and areas as its venerable ancestor, including Blood Castle, Devil Square, Chaos Castle, and other highly recognisable landmarks, with even more dungeons added for the mobile version.

Gameplay-wise, MU Archangel will see you hunting down bosses, clearing dungeons, collecting loot, upgrading your equipment, trading with fellow guild members, and much, much more. Best of all, you don’t need to stress about breaking items due to upgrade failure. MU Archangel takes its design cues from a simpler, better time.

We’re not entirely sure when MU Archangel will be out, but it’s definitely going to happen soon. Webzen has given us a release window of Q2 2021 for the South East Asia launch, which means players will be playing it in the next three months. Hooray!

While we wait, Webzen has created two official Facebook pages for the game: one in English and one in Thai

You can check the relevant page for details on pre-registrations, launch dates, and more.
