Motorball sizzles from the first second you pick it up. It’s a fast and frantic thrash that’s going to leave you with a big smile on your face. Games take only a few minutes, but they manage to cram in a whole mass of perfect mobile entertainment.

The game is a top-down take on the car-soccer of Rocket League. You’re playing one on one, with just your vehicle and your opponent’s on the field. The first of you to score three goals is crowned the winner and gets some goodies.

The arenas you’re playing in change things up. They all have boosters and special powers scattered around them, but they also have different shapes and obstacles that you need to overcome. The path to the goal isn’t always an easy one.

Ball Control

You’ll find that the controls take a little bit of getting used to, but that’s part of the fun. It adds to the slightly crazed atmosphere of the experience. You’re never quite sure where the ball is going to end up, and that keeps you on your toes.

There’s a decent compulsion loop here that grabs you and doesn’t let go. It’s easy to jump back into a match, and it feels like there’s going to be a decent community around the game as well.

Motorball is a smash and grab arcade blast of fun. It sets out its stall from the first match and doesn’t let up. Whether you’ve only got a couple of minutes to spare or a few hours to waste, Motorball is going to deliver.
