2020 looks like it could be the year of the MMO on mobile. There are so many amazing games coming out before December that MMO fans really should be salivating about the potential their iPhone, iPad or Android device has to offer.

But what are these games? Well, we’ve rounded up the best ones in this list. There are some classic franchises, some new entries to the mobile canon and plenty more. Basically if you like playing with loads of other people from the comfort of the palm of your hand, there’s definitely going to be something here that’s going to tickle your fancy.

Think we’ve missed anything out? Then feel free to stick your suggestions in the comment section at the bottom of the article. Let us know which of the games on our list you’re most excited about too. Hell, just let us know anything, we love it when you talk to us. Now though, let’s bash out a list.

Ragnarok Origin

There are loads of Ragnarok Online games on the horizon, with plenty of them headed to mobile too. This one looks to be the cream of the crop though, with snazzy graphics and a focus on what made the series so great in the first place. It’s cute, there’s hours and hours of content to get lost in, and it’s coming to a phone near you this year.

Warhammer: Odyssey

A fantasy MMO built from the ground up for mobile that utilises the vast canon of Games Workshop’s swords and sorcery line. Expect angry dwarves, loads of skeletons and goblins, and much much more when the game lands in 2020.

Dragon Nest 2

Dragon Nest M already made it onto our list of the best MMOs that are available for mobile right now, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to see its sequel here. Expect more dungeons and more combat-heavy action when this one lands later in the year.

Runescape Mobile

Oldschool Runescape has been out for a year or so on mobile now, and while RS members can get into the beta for this one on Android, we’re still waiting for a universal release. Hopefully it shouldn’t be too much longer – then you’ll be able to get all of the most modern version of one of the most popular MMOs ever on your phone. That’s pretty darn amazing if you ask us.

Diablo Immortal

Okay, so this one isn’t technically an MMO, but it’s got enough MMO clothes that it fits quite nicely here. Diablo is all about tromping through dungeons, murdering everything that moves and upgrading your equipment. Get some friends involved and you’re not that far away from what makes the MMO tick. This one looks amazing, and we’re really excited to get our hands on it despite the backlash surrounding its announcement.

Eve: Echoes

A sandbox MMO set in the Eve universe that has ramifications for the main game. Eve has always been one of the most interesting, influential and original MMOs out there, and while other attempts to put a version of the game on a different platform haven’t gone brilliantly, there’s enough buzz around Eve: Echoes that it’s definitely worth looking out for. Plus it’s set in space, and space is awesome.

Aion 2

A direct sequel to a PC smash hit, Aion 2 is NCSoft’s next foray into the mobile MMO. We’ve known about this one for nearly a couple of years now, but it’s inching closer to release. If NCSoft gets it right, this could be one of the biggest mobile MMOs of recent years.

Ni No Kuni: Cross Worlds

Of course you’re excited that there’s a Ni No Kuni MMO coming out, because why wouldn’t you be? This gorgeous looking game is sure to set a few fan’s hearts pounding when it comes out this year. So far only an eastern release has been mentioned, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see this one coming west at all.

Naruto Slugfest

An MMO set in the Naruto universe with a focus on punching other players and enemies in the face? We mean, really, what more do you want? Expect this one to be a massive hit with Naruto fans, but even if you’re not an aficionado of the series there’ll be a lot here for you to enjoy. Like the punching, for example.

Summoners War: Chronicles

This one takes the shape of Summoners Wars and builds it up into a fully fledged real time MMO. Expect giant battles, lots of loot, and a story set 70 years before the events of Summoners War: Sky Arena. We reckon this one is going to be an awful lot of fun.
