2020 rapidly approaches, so we thought now was the time to take a look at 25 mobile games to watch in the new year. We’ve rounded up our most exciting choices below, with options included from both iPhone and Android.

25 iPhone and Android Games to Watch in 2020

Apex Legends

Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment’s unstoppable battle royale shooter, will likely arrive on mobile in 2020, offering competition to Fortnite and PUBG Mobile. Here’s hoping it’s a straight port.

Company of Heroes

The World War RTS Company of Heroes is the latest strategy game to arrive on mobile, courtesy of Feral Interactive. It will launch exclusively to iPad initially, but we’d expect an iPhone and Android offering to follow.

Dauntless

Everyone’s favourite Monster Hunter that isn’t actually Monster Hunter, Dauntless arrives on mobile in 2020. It should be a direct port, supporting cross play between all platforms.

Diablo Immortal

Diablo Immortal is an upcoming mobile exclusive entry in the franchise that we can’t wait to check out. It’s not quite Diablo III, which would have been our personal choice, but it looks close enough.

Eve: Echoes

Eve: Echoes, similarly to Diablo Immortal, is an upcoming mobile exclusive version of the hit PC MMORPG. It’s basically the same game, just redesigned for touchscreens.

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered

Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered originally launched on Nintendo’s GameCube in 2003, and will next year be remastered in full HD on smartphones.

Forza Street

Microsoft’s exquisite car racing franchise Forza will make it to mobile next year in a brand new version that draws inspiration from Need For Speed and Fast and Furious. Expect neon-tinged street racing, then.

H1Z1

H1Z1, much like Apex Legends, is also coming to mobile – presumably in its proper form. We don’t know much about the port at this point, though we expect to see more in 2020.

Impossible Bottles

Impossible Bottles is an upcoming rhythm adventure about a scientist striving to solve the energy crisis by creating… dancing robots. You’ll tap to send energy to the robots in tune to a variety of different songs.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

League of Legends: Wild Rift is the name of the upcoming mobile port of the classic PC MOBA. It’s about time too.

Legends of Runeterra

Legends of Runeterra is another upcoming mobile game by Riot Games, but this one riffs on Hearthstone. Expect to see more of this upcoming card battler next year.

Levelhead

Levelhead is an upcoming level builder by the makers of Crashlands, Butterscotch Shenanigans. Think Mario Maker but in co-op, where four players can team up to create levels together.

Path of Exile Mobile

Path of Exile Mobile is the real deal, coming to mobile in 2020. Grinding Gear Games aren’t entirely sure what it will be yet but we’re excited to see what they come up with.

Plants vs. Zombies 3

Plants vs. Zombies 3 is a new entry in the franchise that we actually really don’t know much about right now. Hopefully we’ll find out more soon, and that it will launch in 2020.

Pokémon Sleep

Don’t you wish you could play games while you sleep? Well, Pokémon Sleep aims to fix that. It will reward you depending on how long you sleep, which is interesting.

Project Cars GO

Project Cars GO is a mobile version of the hit racing game that we, again, don’t really know an awful lot about. Expect licensed and customisable cars when it hits in 2020.

RuneScape Mobile

Actual RuneScape is coming to mobile in 2020, and is actually available right now for Android gamers that have signed up for a membership.

Shadowgun War Games

Shadowgun War Games is to Overwatch what Shadowgun Legends is to Destiny. You’ll pick from a number of different heroes and battle for skins and stuff like that.

Stranger Things

Netflix is working on a Stranger Things AR game for mobile that will, presumably, allow you to interact with the Upside Down in the real world.

Super Meat Boy Forever

Super Meat Boy Forever is Super Meat Boy 2 in all but name. It’s simplified in terms of controls but not in terms of gameplay, with procedurally-generated levels increasing in challenge whenever you complete one.

Teamfight Tactics

Teamfight Tactics is an Auto Chess-like battler that takes place in the League of Legends universe. The game mode is actually available right now in the PC version, but will launch as a standalone on mobile.

Terraforming Mars

Terraforming Mars is an upcoming digital board game by Asmodee Digital. You have to place cards on Mars to help make it habitable, including water, structures, greenery, and more.

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad is an upcoming gacha RPG that brings together characters from various different Tom Clancy properties including Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell.

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is a new entry in the franchise that plays a lot more like an SRPG than a gacha RPG. It looks more like a sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics.
