Managing Spell Energy is one of the biggest problems in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Your initial pool is very small and unlocking more energy is very expensive in terms of real cash.

So, to help you aspiring wizards out, we thought we’d put together a brief guide on how to get more spell energy and how to manage your existing energy. Let’s get right to it.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite – What is Spell Energy?

Spell Energy is, simply put, the essential resource you need to cast spells. Each time you cast a spell, it takes up a certain amount of Spell Energy. Given that you have a cap of 75 Spell Energy when you first start playing, and an increase costs 150 Gold Coins ($1.48 / £1.99) it’s a safe bet to say you’re going to be running short very often.

How Can I Get More Spell Energy?

Fortunately, there is an abundance of ways to recharge your Spell Energy in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and we’ll detail all of these in their own sections below.

Inns:

The easiest method is to visit an Inn. Those are those coloured buildings dotted around your local area. You can visit an Inn once every five minutes, and you’ll recover between 3-10 Spell Energy each time you do so.

The colour of the Inn details the type of Inn, with each serving up different dishes. These dishes provide varying different amounts of spell Energy:

FoodSpell Energy RecoveredInns Served At
Violet Pudding3Pink
Afternoon Tea3Brown
Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans3Green
Pumpkin Juice3Blue / Purple
Tomato Soup3Brown / Purple
Bangers and Mash5Purple
Fish and Chips6Brown / Blue
Honeyduke’s Chocolate Bar6Green
Butterbeer7Blue / Purple
Turkey Dinner10Green

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a clear winner in terms of which colour pub provides the highest chance of restoring more Spell Energy. Green might have the best option, but it also has the joint lowest – and it’s a similar story with the rest of them.

Buy It:

The quickest and easiest method of getting Spell Energy is to simply visit the store and purchase it. We would strongly urge you to get into a rhythm of conserving Spell Energy rather than buying it though, as it’s very expensive.

Daily Challenges:

You can also get Spell Energy from challenges, which you get more of each day. We recommend checking your Daily Challenges every day and prioritising those that pay out Spell Energy.

Greenhouses:

Greenhouses are the least reliable option, as they primarily dish out Potion Ingredients. Still, always visit Greenhouses when you get the option as those Potions can help increase the success rate of Spells and save you a lot of Spell Energy over time. Besides, you might get a bit of Spell Energy along the way too.

How to Make Spell Energy Last Longer:

Prevention is the best cure applies to Spell Energy in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. Here’s a few tips on how to ensure you rarely, if ever, run low:

Aim for Good or Great Spell Casts:

The first step is to make sure your Spell casting is up to scratch. You’ll basically always want to get at least Good, if not Great, ratings for each Spell you cast. We’ll cover the ins and outs of that in another guide, but a good rule of thumb is to stick as close to the spell guidelines as possible and, more importantly, make sure your lines are long enough.

Most times, we’ve got a Fair rating due to our final flick of a finger falling just short of the end of the guide. Don’t be like us.

Casting Spells faster also increases your Spell rating, mind. So if you’re struggling for accuracy, try and cast them as quickly as possible instead.

Potions:

Potions are the best method of ensuring your Spell never fails, which will save you an absolute ton of Spell Energy. Craft as many of them as possible and use them according to the challenge. If it’s low, you can probably get away without a Potion but any higher and you should reconsider.

Also, use the Potion appropriate for the difficulty. If it’s just a medium or so challenge just use the lowest Potion you have available. Incredibly difficult? Chug down the best Potion.

Following those tips should help you not only save a bunch of Energy, but generally have more on you at all times.
