The seasons are changing, and Pokémon GO is celebrating with this year’s Equinox event! It kicks off March 19th 1:00 p.m. PDT and continues for a whole week, ending on the 26th 1:00 p.m. PDT. There’s a lot of stuff to do throught the week, and even some permanent changes to the game.
Increased Grass Spawns
Spring is here (at least for the Northern Hemisphere), which means that we’ll soon begin to see the plants growing again. With the grass comes Grass Type pokémon! The following pokémon all have increased spawns for the event duration, so look out for them:
Oddish and Sunkern have evolutions that require a sunstone each, so if possible, spin your 7th daily pokestop for a chance to get a sunstone. Limited-time Field Research tasks are part of the event as well, which will involve catching a lot of Grass-Types. Hopefully they will offer sunstones as rewards too, but that much is unconfirmed for now.
Lunatone and Solrock will be switching hemispheres, with Lunatone coming to the South and Solrock coming to the North. They’re here to stay, too – this change is permanent, so if you’re not done catching your current local ‘mon, here’s your warning.
In addition, two new moves will be permanently added to the game:
- Acid Spray – Arbok, Muk, Alolan Muk, Octillary, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Swalot, Tentacruel, Victreebel
- Leaf Tornado – Shiftry, Victreebel
Grass-Type Raid pokémon will appear more often too, so be sure to pick up Alonan Exeggcutor and Breloom.
