The name IGG might not be as familiar as Rovio or Supercell, but the studio has made just as much of an impact over the last couple of years thanks to smash hit titles like Lords Mobile, Castle Clash, and most recently Mobile Royale.

Released just a couple of months ago, IGG’s latest multiplayer strategy game has already attracted more than a million downloads and well over 50,000 reviews, averaging 4.5 stars, and it’s garlanded with a coveted Google Play Editor’s Choice badge at the time of writing.

Mobile Royale sees you building a city, training troops, trading with other players, working your way through a long single-player campaign, and getting stuck into a variety of gameplay modes. It’s a huge, fully featured, massively multiplayer sandbox RTS.

It looks great, too, with crisp 3D visuals and plenty of graphical flair in details like the zoomable floating island where you build your base and the airships that hover dreamily overhead.

But some of the game’s millions of players identified a problem with its original incarnation. It seems that they found themselves vulnerable to attack while installing updates and therefore incapacitated. Oops!

IGG has responded by issuing an update containing a new Maintenance Shield. This shield ensures that your progress is protected while updates are being applied, as well as ensuring that imprisoned leaders stay imprisoned and a variety of other things.

In addition, the latest update adds a new monster with the terrifying name of the Abyss Worm, and a new Arena Area. This allows players with castles at level 6 or over to pit their heroes against each other in brutal 60-second matches.

Also, IGG has pumped extra rewards into Mobile Royale – meaning you can now collect up to 10,000 crystals in specific seasonal events in the Arena mode.

You can download Mobile Royale for free right now on Google Play and the App Store.
