Linn: Path of Orchards is a gorgeous new puzzle platformer by Crescent Moon Games that borrows its visual style very liberally from Monument Valley. Don’t be fooled though, as Linn is very far from a relaxing jaunt through Escher-inspired environments.

Instead, it’s all rotating platforms of death, terrifying leaps of faith, and lots of cerebral and reflex-focused challenge. It’s not for the feint of heart, but we still recommend everyone try it because it’s top stuff.

We can even help you have more fun, by providing the below tips and tricks to help you succeed. Just be patient, follow our advice, and have fun. That’s all we ask in return.

Linn: Path of Orchards Tips and Tricks

  • Master the controls: You can swipe up to jump and right and left to turn. Pretty simple, right? Well, when you add in aerial moves it becomes slightly more complex. While in the air you can dash in either direction and double jump.
  • You can do three separate moves in a single jump: As soon as you jump you can pull off three separate moves before you land. That includes a second jump, a change in direction, and a dash. Use them all to succeed.
  • Don’t try and get all three stars in one go: It’s virtually impossible to get all three stars in a single run, so don’t bother. Instead, just do three separate runs to get them with ease.
  • You have to turn in mid-air before you can dash: The in air dash can be quite tricky to perform. We found it easier to turn in mid-air to the direction you want to dash then swipe again to dash. It’s a bit fiddly, but worth knowing.
  • Hit retry if you fail: If you fail, hit retry before Linn plummets to her death. That way you can try again faster and save yourself a bit of time.
  • Save the Elder Shards for later: Forget the Elder Shards initially. These are often place in incredibly tricky locations. Instead, just work your way through the levels mastering the controls, then come back to them later. You’ll likely have a much easier time when you’re better at the game.
  • Sometimes you have to plan ahead: You can’t always react to what’s happening and might have to plan ahead in certain levels. It’s a good idea to spend the first few goes just watching what the platforms do so you know exactly how to navigate them.
  • There’s no need to rush: You’re under no time pressure so don’t just try and rush through – take your time! If you have to, there’s no shame in backtracking and giving the level a few tries until you beat it.
  • Your moves resets after you hit a wall: This might get patched out but your aerial moves actually reset if you hit a wall that’s at a slight angle. We’ve used this countless times to get us out of trouble.
