Matchington Mansion is basically a more polished Homescapes, with you inheriting a mansion that’s in desperate need of repair. So, working with your interior design friend, you’ll renovate the property by… solving a bunch of match three puzzles. What?

This genre is pretty confusing, but it’s rife on the App Store right now so we won’t judge. Basically, you complete a bunch of challenging match three puzzle levels to replace old furniture and repair damages until your mansion is looking tip top again.

While we’re not entirely sure what the connection between match three puzzling and mansion renovation is, we have to say that watching the mansion go from cobwebs to lovely drapes is very satisfying.

But it’s not easy. So we’ve played a bunch of it to give you the following tips and tricks that will help power you through the levels.

Matchington Mansion Tips and Tricks

  • Prioritise the coloured pillows you need: You’ve got to collect a set number of coloured pillows per level and only a limited number of moves to do so in, so it makes sense to prioritise getting those pillows rather than getting high scores.
  • Sometimes it’s better to set off a rocket than to match the pillows you need: Having said that, sometimes you actually can get more pillows by matching ones you don’t need. Get four in a row, or a variety of other different types of matches, and you’ll get a rocket that can collect a bunch of pillows at once.
  • Aim for more than three matches where possible: When matching pillows you need, take a glance around the board. You want to try and aim for more than three matches each time so you can get as many pillows as possible. Besides, any match over three gives you a bomb.
  • Try a level first before using power-ups: As you progress, you’ll start earning power-ups. These are limited though, so we recommend trying a level first then using a power-up only if you’re stuck. There’s no point wasting one on a level you’ll fly through anyway.
  • Remember you only have a limited number of moves: Take a glance on the left side of the screen at the start of every level so you can see how many moves you’ve got. If you use up all of your moves before you collect the pillows you need you’ll fail the level. Don’t be that person.
  • Take your time: The moves might be limited but your time isn’t. So rather than rush, take your time and look for decent pillow matches. You’ll only be punished for using too many moves – not taking too long.
  • Make note of what each rocket does: There are a variety of different rockets you can unlock by matching pillows in a variety of different formations. Make note of what each one does so you can try and trigger the one you need when you need it.
  • Connect to Facebook for more coins: You get 500 coins when you connect your account to Facebook, which is worth it as coins are in very short supply and you’ll need them later on. Besides, you’ll also want to connect to Facebook so you can…
  • Add friends to get free lives: Lives are also in very limited supply but you can receive more from friends that also play the game. That’s why connecting to Facebook is handy, as you can easily see who’s already playing the game.
