Langrisser Mobile is here to take Fire Emblem Heroes’s crown as the best SRPG on mobile. It offers a fully-fledged new entry in the long-running franchise, with huge maps to battle on, heroes to evolve, and gorgeous visuals reminiscent of the original.

As such, if you first entered the world of SRPG with Fire Emblem Heroes, you might find yourself a little lost when you start this Langrisser. It’s generally a lot more involved than Fire Emblem Heroes, which better serves as a stepping stone in the genre.

But don’t fear, as we’re here to help. We’ve played Langrisser Mobile a bunch to come up with a few tips and tricks to get you started.

Langrisser Mobile: Tips and Tricks

  • Protect your weaker party members: The likes of Mages, Assassins, and Archers generally don’t have the defence to survive very long on the front lines. Position your Infantry, Cavalry, and Lancers to protect them – even if that involves moving as a group to keep your weaker members safe.
  • Pay attention to the priority system: You’ll fare so much better in battle if you use a unit that’s strong against another. Infantry beats Cavalry beats Lancer beats Infantry. Then you have Archers strong against Fliers and Holy strong against Demon. Use the classes against types they’re strong against and do the opposite in defence.
  • Terrain also plays a huge effect: It’s not really brushed on much during the introduction, but terrain can offer a huge advantage during combat. For example, wooded sections offer a 20% defence advantage. Place a unit in different terrain and learn all of the effects – they come in handy.
  • Learn your skills: Tap and long hold on a skill whenever you acquire a new hero to learn what they do. These are often either incredibly powerful or feature situational uses, like forcing a hero to fight in another’s place during the next battle. These can be very effective so pay attention.
  • Don’t waste your skills: Skills have limited uses though, so don’t just use them without thinking. Save your heals for when a party member really needs them, for example.
  • Look out for combo effects: Your heroes have a bunch of different combo effects that can happen during certain battle circumstances. It could be related to positioning, using skills, or friends fighting together. Look out for these to get a nifty bonus in times of trouble.
  • Always do Side Routes: Side Routes offer extra rewards for those brave enough to take them on. We recommend that you do them as often as possible, as you’ll get more resources to power up in preparation for trickier battles ahead.
  • Always grab chests: Occasionally, you’ll find chests just lying around in the field of battle. Always make a point of grabbing them for extra rewards.
  • Grab your Mission and Event rewards: You’ll probably be more interested in mindlessly pushing into the next battle, but it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the menu. Tap on the ‘Missions’ and ‘Events’ screens regularly to check if you have any new rewards – they can really help in the battles ahead.
  • Save your Vouchers until you have 10: It’s tempting to summon a new hero whenever you get a Voucher, but we recommend saving them up until you have 10. You get a bonus chance at a better reward that way.
  • Prioritise event summons: We recommend prioritising Event summons whenever possible. These often have limited-time heroes or have a higher chance to get a powerful hero temporarily. Always prioritise these.
