Tap! Captain Star: Tips, Cheats and Strategies

Tap! Captain Star is a new clicker from Nanoo, and it’s a beautifully presented entry into the genre. However it’s what you’d expect from a clicker. Set in space it’s up to you (the titular Captain Star) and your crew to blast away various alien enemies by, er, tapping on them.

And that’s pretty much it on the face of it. There’s a lot of elements you’ll need to master to make sure you make progress quickly though, and that’s where we come in. Here are our tips, tricks, and strategies to help you become a true intergalactic tapping hero…

• Assemble a crew Obviously to do well in any clicker you need to get the game to do most of the work, and it’s the same in Tap! Captain Star. Simply keep checking the Crew tab and adding as many members to your squad as you can – as the more you have the faster enemies will be blasted into space dust.

• Captain fantastic Once you have a crew together you can level them up with minerals. Make sure you focus on the Captain first though, as he is far more powerful than any of his lackeys. Trust us.

• Twenty twenty When you’re levelling up characters try and do it in increments of twenty. This is because attack damage doubles every twenty levels crew members grow, no more and no less. So levelling up characters at an even rate is, ultimately, a complete waste of time.

• Tap quick Yes, you have a team on your side – but if you have the time you can always tap yourself. If you tap at a good rate you’ll fire a more powerful laser rather than standard bullets too. This is something worth considering if you find yourself up against one of the tougher aliens.

• Eye on the skies Every now and then a UFO appears at the top of the screen – it makes a rather annoying noise as it does, so is easy enough to notice. Click on it and you’ll be offered a range of special deals, and they’re usually different each time – so make sure you keep watching (and clicking on) the skies.

• Check out the ads The above brings the matter of ads into focus, and Tap! Captain Star is a game that loves ads. You’ll be offered a range of ways to make more Gems and Minerals, and some of them are more worthwhile than others. Answering a survey for instance, probably not – but watching a video ads can often provide some rather excellent rewards.

• Space travel Make sure you keep exploring every new constellation that becomes available. Attack damage increases for every crew member by 100% for every constellation that’s saved, so it’s well worth being an avid astrological adventurer.

• Ship shape To allow yourself the chance to visit the above constellations you’ll need better ships, so always check if you either upgrade your current rig or get a new one.

• Proper gem Gems are hard to get your hands on, so make sure you use them wisely – especially as they can be used to double attack damage when used in conjunction with Captain and Crew skins.

• You’re a superstar To make sure your Captain is at his most powerful unlock the power star weapons whenever you can.

• Red alert It’s easy to lose track of all of the above, but don’t worry! Just keep an eye on the bottom of the screen, as any elements you can upgrade will be marked with a red exclamation mark. Handy.
