Once again Niantic has waited right until the end of the month to let us know, what Pokémon is part of the Field Research for December. This month doesn’t feature any new additions to the Pokédex, instead we see old favourites return to the spotlight. Every time you reach a Research Breakthrough this month you’ll have a chance to encounter Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Raikou, Entei, or Suicune.
Pokémon Go players this month have the chance to grab old legendary birds and beasts. These Pokémon have appeared in Pokémon Go before, but this is your chance to get them again. There are six Pokémon to get your hands on, three birds and three beasts.
How do we encounter them?
To get this chance to encounter one of these legendary Pokémon, you will need to reach a Research Breakthrough. This means completing your daily research tasks seven days in a row so you can have that all important breakthroughs. Now, because there are more Pokémon available this month then opportunities to get them, you can assume it will be random for which one you’ll get. So be patient as you might not get the Pokémon you want on your first go. Unless you have none of these Pokémon, then lucky you!
How to catch them?
This is the important part, catching your Pokémon. This is a legendary Pokémon, one you can’t just simply walk up to and fling a Pokéball. It is recommended to use Ultra Balls and a Razz berry, these items will increase your odds to bag this Pokémon. If you want to be sure that you’ll grab this Pokémon then you could also use Golden Razz Berries. Remember, this is for a legendary Pokémon that is only available this month, so bring as many Ultra Balls and Razz Berries as possible.
Just because you brought Ultra Balls and Golden Razz Berries does not guarantee you will catch these Pokémon. There are other factors that can affect your chances of catching for example how good is your throw. If you want the best chance for catching these Pokémon, then use an Ultra Ball or Golden Razz Berry and go for a great curveball. I won’t go into details about curveballs here, just know it greatly increases your chances of securing a Pokémon.
