Though intrepid mobile gamers can and do play Pokemon GO all year long, it’s truly a game that shines when the weather turns warm. Niantic knows this only too well, which is why it’s gearing up for the biggest and most involved schedule of Community Day and other live events that it’s calling Summer Tour 2018.
Whether you live near a big city where Pokemon GO Fest is stopping by or simply want to get in on the Community Day fun since it’ll be sunny and warm for the next few months, there will be plenty of reason to get up, get out and interact with some of your fellow trainers. We’ve got all the details on what has been announced so far, so let’s break it all down.
Pokemon GO May Community Day – Saturday, May 19
The May Community Day involves everyone’s favorite Fire-type Pokemon, Charmander. Okay, he might not even be the most beloved in his evolution chain, but he’s certainly been a fan favorite since the very beginning. From 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on May 19, you’ll be able to find Charmander out in the wild in places he wouldn’t normally spawn.
The Community Day Charmander will also have a chance to come with a special move, either for himself or one of his evolved forms, but only if you evolve him during the event. To that end, lures will last for three hours (six times their normal duration, and long enough that a single lure will cover the entire time) and all Pokemon caught will grant three times the Stardust.
Pokemon GO Safari Zone at Dortmund – Saturday June 30-Sunday, July 1
Pokemon GO players in Dortmund, Germany will get to experience a special two-day event at Westfalenpark on June 30 and July 1. The exact details haven’t been revealed yet, but Niantic has promised that “Trainers of all ages will be able to catch a wide variety of Pokémon, including some rarely seen throughout Europe!” You can bookmark this page to get updates as the Safari Zone weekend draws closer.
Pokemon GO Fest 208 – Chicago – July 14-15
The Windy City will once again host a Pokemon GO Fest in Lincoln Park this summer. This is a ticketed event that will cost $20 a person, with tickets going on sale May 12. Subtitled “A Walk in the Park,” this year’s event is being described as “a unique, immersive play experience unseen anywhere else that will create a daylong adventure for Trainers” and will take place along a 1.8-mile walking course that should have plenty of activities for gamers of all ages.
In the vein of both the Dortmund Safari Zone and Pokemon GO Feat, Niantic is also promising similar events for Japan later this summer and more for Asia after that. For the time being, you can keep an eye out for ticket information and more details for Chicago by bookmarking this page — and, of course, keeping up with us here at Gamezebo as we bring you the latest.
Summer Community Days – June 16 and July 8
Last but definitely not least, the Pokemon Community Day dates for the first two months of the summer have also been announced, though no details have been given yet concerning which Pokemon will be featured and which exclusive moves they might have. You can mark June 16 and July 8 on your calendars now, though, and look for more information once the May Community Day is behind us.
